Hey guys! I will be moving to Japan for a year starting this April, and I would love to be able to contribute to the site by uploading some videos. Problem is, I've never done anything like that before!
So, I was wondering what is everyone's preferred method for capturing video off the TV? I was mostly wondering about the equipment necessary (cheapest is best, I am soooo broke!) and any programs, such as subtitling or video capturing software.

And then if anyone could point me to a tute about the exact process of capturing the video or subtitling, that would be great!
