I've always found that Love Machine and RR21 PVs look way too outdated to be from 1999/2000. They look more like they're from the 1980s, and not in an ironic homage kind of way.

It probably wasn't too different from a lot of the western boy bands, Britney, or other Pop acts around that time in the US. It just seems more out of place in the context of idols in Japan at that time.

RR21 looks a bit dated because it's an actual set but LM is just heavily CGI and edited and looks pretty in place to me.

late 90's J-pop was a strange time, in my opinion. Take Ayu's first album, A Song for XX for instance. That album, however good, was so dated and corny to come out when it did. Meanwhile, even the cutting edge artists like Namie were releasing music videos that had a strange dull tinge of dust over them. I always found it intriguing that it was basically a stylistic choice. As for H!P, I think they went for a corny dated low-budget look on purpose for the sake of humor. I find it jarring to compare those videos like Love Machine/RR2 to the stuff that Utada was doing. it felt like two completely different time periods.

Hopefully they sing a song from the latest album and not JJ .

I'm glad JJ has become mainstream, but you know how the general public get bored so easily. Dokyuu would be great considering how energetic it is and the dance is all Johnny like with the flips and cart wheels.I doubt they'll do a song from the album tbh, unless you want Ai no Tane to be performed (which I'd rather not: I love the song, I love the sentitment, but it's quite boring for a show like this). I'd rather them do Jealousy Jealousy since that's probably the most known A-side that's come from them this year, and it's a bit more mainstream and relatable to the GP. Unless they want to do Dokyuu no Go Sign, which is a typical idol song (and I have no problem with them performing it).

Yeah the humour was there, I mean the intro for Love Machine was supposed to be the members posing as though they needed the toilet lol.
Humour? Where do you see the humour?
Well, maybe
