Oh I just noticed, on the new Girls' Live episode with Stella drop, Airi's hair wasn't dyed yet and her bangs weren't cut yet. Those clips must've been so old now. But then on the preview, you see them practicing and she has her bangs cut now. haha

Comparing to other management teams won't help you understand. H!P has been exceptionally strict for about 15 years now, so their reasons are their reasons.

Members are allowed to tweet through their group's account sometimes, (presumably because the manager is looking over their shoulder), and official Facebook pages are connected to their blogs. I'm pretty sure that some of them read Twitter messages @ or # their group... But still the only way I know of reaching out and saying something directlyto the members through the Internet is blog comments.

Recently, Airi took the P.E. course in her university since she heard that girls will learn how to make fire and set up tents.

However, to her surprise, it was changed into rope climbing! And not only that, she's the only girl in the class

Haha rope climbing sounds like a guy thing. Arguably some girls might be interested but I bet more guys would do it if asked. But imo, this makes Airi cooler (and maybe even buffer! watch her have Mai's upper arm strength). It must be a fun class. Anything with that many guys is always fun in my opinion.

I'm a Software Engineering major and in all my cs classes, the maximum number of girls has consistently been 4 in a class of 40 --- a 1:10 ratio of females to males. I had a friend who was the only girl in a data structures class of 20 people you get used to it after some time. I think it might be more extreme in japan where women attending university isn't as prevalent as in the US. I'm pretty sure she's had other classes (if she's a programming major) where there might have only been 3 girls in her class for a smaller class. And if she had a bigger class of say 100-300, then the ratio probably still holds.

But seriously, when you put technology and math together, it seems like it scares more women away than men. or just the STEM fields, other than nursing, in general. It's such a fun and broad field, and I really do hope more women get into it in the future. Like seriously, don't you think apps is the coolest thing ever? Think of something that you'd want on your phone, and then research the hell out of it and just make it! To me, it's fun because it's something that allows your ideas to come to life. I'm a writer, and I love to breathe life into stories and characters. It's incredibly similar with programming!

^when she first attended her uni back in april 2013 i think, she wrote a blog post about attending an orientation about PCs. There was also a source, though unconfirmed, that she entered Keio University's Department of Information and Computer Science. And she said in an interview (on a release event for a sotsugyou book) that she wants to study programming to help spread their music--- or something like that. With all of that, I can't help but think she's doing a computer-related major.
