I missed the Evangelion series when it first came out... primarily 'cos it never really did come out in the UK!
But I've been aware of it for a while and so "dipped in" to the franchise with Evangelion 1.11 "You Are (Not) Alone".
Wow.
As far as anime goes it is top notch - good animation and a story concept up there with some of the best. The only bad thing for me is the whiney voice of the main boy/pilot.
2.22 "You Can (Not) Advance" was a great sequel - but ended with some brain-twisting conclusion, setting it up nicely for 3.33.
And the 4th and final part is supposedly a completely new finale, whereas 1-3 is basically a revisit/re-mixing of the original series.
So anyone else watching these "films"?
And if so, are they better/worse than the original series - in terms of animation and/or story?
Comments, thoughts, complaints, hopes, desires, confessions...?

IF... the remix

IF you can keep your singing voice when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself to stay in tune when all wota doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can dance and not be tired by dancing,
Or being gossiped about, don't deal in gossip,
Or being hated by AKB-fans, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good without makeup, nor talk too wise in interviews:
IF you have a dream - and keep saying how you are living your dream;
If you can blog - mostly about food and practices;
If you can meet with Tsunku and Management
And treat those two senpais just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth about your talent
Twisted by fans who make a blog for fools,
Or watch the group you gave your life to, unpopular,
And stop to build 'em up with mediocre songs and routines:
IF you can make one large public plea to sing more lines
And risk it on one line in the latest single,
And be rubbish, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word again about your solo;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To practice the choreography long after the others are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Help Me!'
IF you can talk with crowds and shake their hands at events,
Or walk with bodyguards - and be denied the common touch,
if neither wota nor real friends can hurt you,
If all men secretly think you're brilliant, but none buy your CD singles;
If you can fill the minute between songs at a concert
With sixty seconds' worth of humorous banter,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Momusu, my girl!
Yes, I was bored at work...

Eeyore's Efforts: A Delve in to the Mind of Weird

Listening in amazement at Warbringer's remix stuff on another thread, I was tempted to "try my hand" (you know what they say, copying is the sincerest form of flattery!):
NEW THINGS
Kimagure Princess (Murdoch Mix)
I urge you to hear it through... at least until it starts properly.
Not sure how or why this popped into my head as a viable mix - but it sort of works.
I think.
Nanchatte Renai (Piano mix) - only early part
A very brief part of the new one I'm currently working on - no mixing, just re-doing the music with the original voices.
When I heard the vocals I just thought it could do with a simpler backing that accentuates the wonderful singing.
And even Koharu sounds okay!!
It only covers the first two verses, though - will work on the rest.
OLDER THINGS
Kanashimi Twilight ~Zonal Peak Mix~
As for why I mixed in the stuff I did... meh - no real idea.
I could probably make something up as to why, but you wouldn't believe me... and nor would I.
You might also realise that there are no drums... 'cos I felt it needed more than just a basic repeating loop, and that's all I'm really capable of (at the moment).
If some budding drummer wants to send me a drum track to overlay... feel free
Chokkan 2 ~Whovian Mix~
This was hastily mashed.
None of my own composition in this - just a mash Chokkan2 with... well... just listen and find out
It's not good... very hasty... very much a "concept" piece than a finished article. So no complaints on the quality!!
But after getting the idea in my head it was near impossible to shake out without going ahead and doing it.
So you've been warned.
Roman ~MY DEAR REMIX~
Not sure if this is finished or not.
Problem I have is that I'm not good at grinding out the fine detail... if it sounds semi-okay and gets all the points across... then I'm usually happy
Anyhoo - this is really just a... well... I'm not sure. Any comments as to what I've turned it into (repeatable comments only) are more than welcome.
I got halfway through and realised it hadn't grabbed me the same way as Kanashimi Twilight. I couldn't find a really good concept for it, so just carried on with what I was doing.
Enjoy.
(Edit: seems there might be some issues with tempo/alignment between voice and music... so apologies but am working on a fix / "patch" )
Anyhoo - do also feel free to comment, criticise, call me a God, genius, tell me it's rubbish, that I'm a deluded or anything else you wish.
I'll probably work on some more... probably.
Unless I get enough votes (and money, please) to stop right now!
If anyone has any requests for mixes? [Edit: to do a remix with vocals requires there to be an instrumental version of the song - so sort of limited to single releases.]
I have a few ideas, but not many... I used most of mine up in this one.
Any new efforts will be added to this front page... but for now it's somewhat paltry.
Although you might also wish to view my various (4) Youtube efforts to date:....
OPVs and other Youtube stuff
- which includes a re-imagined version of the song as well - but not one I can easily add vocals to
and the one I'm still most proud of...

Reality Check
Once upon a time, in a galaxy not unlike our own, and on a planet also not unlike our own, resided many people who were avid followers of one of the all time greatest phenomena the very Universe has laid claim to producing.
It was so amazing a phenomena that even God (whichever one you happen to believe in) had to admit that he (or she) didn't see it coming. But they laid claim to it nonetheless. Despite Tsunku's previous filing of Intellectual Property Rights.
And for atheists... it just happened, okay?
Anyhoo - the amazing phenomena - henceforth known as "Morning Musume" by all those that want to refer to it by its correct name - spawned the equally amazing craze of writing fanfic about its members...
And so our story begins...
One day, the members of Morning Musume looked on the internet to see what people were writing about them.
"Hey, look at this!" said one of them in an accent that would have been stereo-typical English had they actually been speaking English... or even understood English.
"What? What?" replied the severely untested and thus possibly highly underrated harmonising ability of the chorus of other girls.
"People are writing fiction and publishing it on the internet..."
"Wow!" and "Cool!" were the responses.
"... about us..."
"Oh," and "Really?" were the further responses.
"... and... well... eeeeeeeeeeewww!"
They all read what the one at the computer was reading, and in perfect harmony followed by a nasal solo and a wink from one of them, and lots of sweating by another, they all went "eeeeeeeeeeeewwwww!"
Whichever one is your favourite gave a loud "tut" and shook their head disappointedly.
And switched off the computer.
The end.
