uh huh, your point being?

My point is that, I don't see any reason for using 2x 8600GTS's over a single 8800GT.

I kinda didn't want to say it so directly though :);;;
Custom programmable LED pegboard. If anyone wants to make a similar thing, PM me and I will help you out =)

HAHAHA! nice! As long as it satisfy you, why not, its like my friends telling me, "Why on earth do you need dual 24 inchers for?!"

I would just flash a smile and ask them to shut up, sick and tired of explaining to people. :)

I'm not gonna jump into the GPU conversation because I'm not a gamer and don't know all that much about Graphics cards configurations.

I just want to ask, yoshikx, I presume you are building your own PC and I am curious as to what components you are using. Judging by the fact you have brought 2 Graphics cards I guess this is going to be a gaming PC (And a very nice one I bet).

Actually, its 4 cards! XD Yeah, have been building my own PC since the thunderbird days. Firstly, let me list out my current PC specifications.

AMD Althon 64 3800+ Brisbane AM2
Asus M2NPV-VM
4x1GB Kingston 667 D9GMH
Inno3D 8600GT
2x500GB Western Digital AAKS
2x1TB Hitachi Cinemastar 7K1000
1x160GB Western Digital AAJS
Benq DW1640
Seasonic S12 650w
2 x Dell 2407WFP Ultrasharp Widescreen LCDs
Logitech Dinovo Edge
ESI nEars 04

Infact, this set-up has serve me well over the past year, no complains about it whatsoever. I game, playback HD movies, music, basically everything on this set-up. Reason for upgrade? Just wanted to enjoy games at 1920x1200 at high settings. Not that it matters, because i have a PS3 that does the job and even doubles up as a Blu-ray player! HAHA! Basically, i'm just buying for the sake of buying and just wanted to try something new. I'm also a computer hardware enthusiast, i know its impossible to keep up with technology, but its my hobby and interest, just like H!P :D

All right, we move on now to the current PC specifications, the one that im currently in the midst of building.

Parts aquired so far :

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650
Logitech MX Revolution
2 x Sapphire HD3870 x2

I'm still thinking of a suitable motherboard to pair up with the chip and also a suitable casing to house everything. I'm looking at a Soldam HERE casing for this project! <_< As for rams, i won't be moving into DDR3 so soon, so i'll just stick to DDR2, might be re-using my D9GMHs. Feel free to ask any questions and stay tuned for more updates! :D

Why did you choose to go with 2x 8600GTS's, instead of a single 8800GT or GTS?

I dont know if have noticed but dude I have an "old school" sli mobo and even if it says pcie 2.0 is backward compatible I'm not thoroughly convinced, besides I wanted to go SLI since the voodoo days, but also wanted them cheap, and also I couldn't afford one of those mondo psu's for two 8800's,oh yeah I forgot to say I already had one 8600GTS

Many HDD's! I have a 320GB WD as my main drive, and a 1TB WD Green Power as a dedicated H!P/AKB48 drive, though it's already 2/3 full <3

*as a side note, every Seagate drive I've ever had has died within 2 years, every WD drive I've had still lives... hence I only ever buy WD!

Damn yoshikx, that is one seriously nice looking case.

How come it doesn't have many ventilation holes though? Or are they all on the back? I would have thought that with the gear your putting in it you would need a lot of air flow going through.

P.S I think you will have a hard time managing the wires

thank you, oh, no worries on that, air-flow is more than sufficient, more information can be found at www3.soldam.co.jp

I'm still thinking whether should i be overclocking this one

because its steel, its like DOH. Yes, soldams definitely appeal to me, i'm very picky when it comes to casings. Cable management is easy, so no worries on that too.

One of my future projects is to build a silent computer is to get a Scythe Orochi~
Putting that big, bad cpu cooler into my system. I have to measure the clearance before buying it~~ ^^;
An example of how big ithe Scythe Orochi is compared to the motherboard~

Posted Image

it can definitely snap a motherboard in half

then, i prolly get Western Digital Green Hard Drives~quiet and energy saver~~

yeah, it does look really warp because the retention system it uses is the same as the stock Intel CPU coolers~ I'm not too sure if there is a metal plate in the back supporting the motherboard~

lol~and I just noticed the duct tape on there but those 10 copper heat pipes look cool~

from the website it states that the whole thing weighs around 3 lbs

To me, i think its quite a overkill if you're not clocking, heck, even if im clocking, i wouldnt even go for it, but that's just me. I was on the scythe infinity sometime back, i keep getting cuts when i was installing other components and i had some trouble taking it out as well, after that incident, i settled for stock coolers. <_<

Bloody hell, I have a Scythe Infinity, and I thought that was big (bearly fits in my black Antec P180 case). I love my Infinity though, my PC is pretty much silent, yay for 120mm CPU fans.
