Interesting! I was convinced both songs were composed by Tsunku but I guess that's just the H!P sound now.

 

I also love Oyogenai Mermaid. I hope it's got a heavy 9th gen focus!

I'm into both so far; I think "Hakkiri" will be a song I hope to one day hear with a live band, and something about "Mermaid" feels a little °C-ute-ish, maybe a touch Platinum I really like it.

At a first listen I think I prefer Hakkiri Shiyou ze, but I have to say that both songs are my cup of tea!!

Oyogenai Mermaid reminds me a bit of Shouganai Yumi Oibito so I totally agree with the 'sounds like Tsunku' and 'Platinum Era' you already pointed out. ^^ I like it it feels so H!P nostalgic.

Woops, Oyogenai Mermaid is too good. I was reticent about it, from the MV excepts I feared it might be a ballad (life is too short for ballads) but hooray it's not, and what more it's super good. Has this HaroPro sound to it.

 

Needs to hear more of Hakkiri to tell...

i love both songs so far, Hakkiri funk sound is so bop, remind me of Tokyo Girls Style early music style,, 

and Oyogenai really have their nostalgic feel,,

Both are decent songs, but not exactly catchy imo. They're nice to listen to and working along, but I can't imagine them in concert right now.

Oyogenai Mermaid, as I hear it, is right up ANGERME's alley of dark-sounding songs like Zenzen Okiagarenai SUNDAY but it's so city pop setsunai

The transition from verse to chorus felt lacking, but I'll reserve judgement until we see the PVs

 

Hakkiri is the ANGERME funky, preppy trademark sound since Tade Kuu Mushi mo Like it!. Cool song.

^ Id go even earlier than that, they had a similar fun funky vibe with Gashin Shoutan, and Umaku Ienai had some funky elements to it.

Definitely looking forward to PVs and hearing them, based off these comments… I usually don’t listen to any of the songs until full MVs are released. I get the full experience right away, so I get to judge them better.

My initial thought is that Mermaid sounds more like a Tsubaki Factory song, and Hakkin like a J=J song. I like both, but neither is flooring me yet.

Oyogenai Mermaid sounds really good, it's easily one of the best recent H!P songs and I'm saying that without even hearing the full version. 

 

Someone on YouTube pointed out how it sounds like the Sailor Moon soundtrack, and I can totally hear it. It definitely has 90s music vibes.

I love how this doesn't sound like a idol song, it's more like a song you will find on nico nico or on a odorite dance cover, for me this single it's a bomb!

Man, this is really good. As I mentioned in the Tsubaki Factory album thread, the guy who composed and arranged this -- Shingo Yamazaki -- also did the same for TF's "Tarinai Mono Umete Yuku Tabi." These seem to be his first credits for H!P, and both are top-tier tracks. I hope they keep throwing work his way if this is the level of music we can expect from him.
