This is not the first time AKB does not sell 1 million copies in the first week since the streak started. Both Eien & So Long sold around 900k in first week, and that's with Tomochin Mariko & Yuko in the title track. I am not a Mayuyu oshi & I do not believe she is THE REASON for this single not reaching 1 mill in the first week (if it actually does not reach it but Mayuyu fans are dedicated so who knows.)

 

But I also understand why some fans will put the blame on her, that comes with being the Top Girl in the 48group. If it succeed Mayuyu will get most of the glory, when it does not she has to take most of the backlash, comes with the job. If this single truly does not sell 1 million this week, Mayuyu will be the only center who has 2 singles(So Long & Kokoro) not reaching 1 mill and that's a lot of ammunition for nay-sayers.

Then there's the total sales of singles and albums list, where I am not sure what AKB48 has at the moment, but the list above them looks like this:

03. Hamasaki Ayumi: 50.38M

05. Dreams Come True: 43.33M
06. Matsutoya Yumi: 39.30M

It could be that AKB48 has already surpassed Amuro Namie, and I wouldn't be surprised if that has happened already. Do i think AKB48 can reach #1? Of course not. But, they can definitely move up several spots. Dropping 100K per single release however will be a good way of making sure that this will not happen.

Random thought: 30M+ total sales should kind of suggest nice income. Then again compared to Namie AKB girls need to split it between hundreds of girls. lol

^ .. ya compare with the fact Namie don't have to book a few huge venue every release for events.. 

And without those event.. she would not need to hire loads of stuff, security ..setup stage and barriers..  transport and logistic..  food water.. medical personnel.. etc.. the list go on.. but it all cost lots of money..

Today at #1 with 15,420 sold. Total 992,698 of so far. 7,302 needed for 1M 1st week. So the question then remains, with the adjustment figures will they manage that or not?

but .. this got to be one of the most fun single for us right?
we are tracking their progress day by day ..
Its a lot more fun than them getting 1 million on the 2nd , 3rd day .. right?

and its very fulfilling .. especially i have been crunching the numbers almost every night ..
and the result turn out to be what I estimated .. so its really fun ...

but .. maybe we should not hope for this kind of fun to happen again .. LOL
