Some scans from the Hello! Project Winter 2009 Complete LIVE Photo Collection (Elders Club Graduation Special) of H!P member comments about the event and about Aichan were recently posted on the forum. Allow me to translate a couple of them.
Yoshizawa Hitomi:
Your expectations for the new Hello! Project
-------------------------------------------------
It was bad when my juniors were giving their farewell statements at the graduation ceremony. I didn't cry at my own graduation. Even though I said to myself that I wouldn't cry, when Takahashi spoke it was bad (laugh). I know that Takahashi was very anxious and worried when she became leader, and I know that she is positive and doing her best. When I saw that Takahashi standing there reading her farewell statement, I thought of how reliable she is, how fine a leader she's becoming, and older sister doesn't feel like watching Tanpopo (laugh). I was so happy and various emotions came rushing. I looked up thinking, "This is bad! They'll see me cry!", and there I was on the monitor (laugh). Like oh no, they caught me. I really cried too much this time. I think that there is no entertainment group that sings and dances like this in Japan or the world. So I hope Takahashi will work hard and take over the next generation.
Ogawa Makoto:
I think that the atmosphere of girls assembling to sing and deliver smiles to everyone is unique, so I'd like them to continue without breaking that atmosphere. Aichan long ago couldn't have imagined herself that she would become the eldest and the leader (laugh). She's the same as before when we hang out in private. Recently when we got together she said suddenly, "Look at this book." (in Fukui dialect) She was into urban legends and talked all about it (laugh). But when we meet on the job, she is organizing everybody properly, and I feel like she became a leader before I knew it. There must be a lot of pressure on her, but when I look at Aichan now I think she's cool. So I hope we can continue to progress as friendly rivals.
To briefly summarize the others:
- Nakazawa would like Aichan to carry out her words in her farewell statement when she said they would overturn what the elders had accomplished.
- Yasuda shares how on the pamphlet the Wonderful members wrote to the Elders, everybody wrote long paragraphs on her page, but Aichan just wrote, "Now I'll be the oldest in Hello! Project!"
- Fujimoto tells that her reaction to Aichan's farewell statement was "Well said!" and when she asked Aichan about it later, Aichan was like, "Me?"
- Inaba hopes for Hello! Project to have an existence like Takarazuka Revue that persists on and on.
- Matsuura says Aichan calls her on the phone, that maybe it's easy for her (Aichan) to talk to her (Ayaya) because they don't have direct contact.
- Mano says she had a fun conversation with Aichan backstage.
- Saho says Aichan taught her how to do a move for Mr. Moonlight that she hadn't understood.
I watched the Elders Club graduation recently myself and I thought Aichan's farewell statement was perfect! It even had the joke in which she said it is sad that we won't be doing these kinds of concerts together anymore, but knowing Tsunku he'll soon be putting us into an "Active duty" unit and a "Graduated" unit and having us perform lives together That got a good reaction from Nakazawa in particular.
About the part Nakazawa referenced, specifically Aichan had said that because she gets fired up the higher her goals are, she wanted the new Hello! Project to exceed what her seniors had accomplished. There was a loud applause from everyone when she said this.
Of course Aichan was crying throughout her address. It's easy to see how even stalwart Yossie caught the crying bug. Really, a remarkable moment.

Anyways..
Thanks for the summary.
