Mari Yaguchi Ayaka Kimura Ayaka Nagate Ai Kago Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer scandal
another member, another scandal Hello everybody! Excuse me for taking so long to update my blog. I have been super busy with work. Also, there is a fire burning in the mountains north of where I live. The air is a little bad, but the sunsets are quite spectacular!

One member that I haven’t addressed yet is Mari Yaguchi. As it turns out, today is Mari’s thirtieth birthday. She was never one of my favorite members, but I have always liked her. She has a good sense of humor and a positive attitude. Mari always caught more than her share of pranks and abuse from the ‘funny’ guys who served as variety ‘talents.’ And she handled it with good cheer. There are a couple of episodes of Ayaka’s Surprise English Lessons (ASEL) with Mari that I particularly like. In one, Mari is lying on her stomach, looking out the window at a river. When Ayaka approaches her, she asks Mari what she is doing. Mari says, “I’m just thinking of a wonderful love.” It was funny! The fact that they were in their 7-nin Matsuri outfits made it even cuter. In another episode, Ayaka asks Mari how tall she is. Mari answers “1 – 4 – 5!” Ayaka says, “Wrong. No good!” When Mari asks her the correct answer, Ayaka answers “One forty five!”Mari was upset because she didn’t get a prize (a cake). She (Mari) screamed in anguish and bent over. “Aaaaahhhh!” Hilarious! I generally don’t believe the actions/reactions of idols when they are on camera. But in this case, Mari’s was just too real to be fake (if that makes sense).

Mari’s career was going quite well. Someone I met at the Ai Kago performance in Little Tokyo (Los Angeles) in 2009 said that it was hard to watch TV in Japan without seeing Mari Yaguchi. Some people even accused her of being over-exposed. In 2011, Mari got married to her boyfriend, an actor named Nakamura. Two years later, it broke in the media that one day, when Nakamura came home unexpectedly, he caught Mari in bed with another man. It turns out that Nakamura was supposed to be out of town for a few days, filming something. The shoot got cancelled, though, and he returned early. The media had a field day with the story. They made lots of ‘funny’ graphics about the scene. For example, a cartoon of an angry Nakamura, with steam coming out of his ears, and a cartoon of a sad Nakamura, with tears flowing out of his eyes. There was even an article in Spanish that called Mari ‘devora hombres’ (man-eater). One thing that puzzles me is how the media found out about this. Nakamura must have told them. Mari was on two TV shows at the time, How to Monkey Baby! and Yaguchi Hitori SHOW. She was fired from both of them. In Oct., 2013, her management had her announce that she was going on an indefinite hiatus/suspension from the entertainment business. I realize that what Mari did was wrong, but I don’t think it was THAT bad. I guess I feel that way because I like her. Apparently, all she has going on is the restaurant that she owns. If I visit Japan, I would like to go to Mari’s restaurant, in hopes that I would see her.

By the way, in researching this, I found out that someone (moebiuz) made a YouTube playlist of all 206 episodes of ASEL. It took me two hours to write this blog entry. That’s because I kept getting distracted by the episodes, ha ha! All of the girls look so cute, but my favorite episodes are the ones with Mari, Aibon, and Tsuji. I noticed that for the girls Ayaka liked (ahem, Aibon and Maki Goto), Ayaka is very free with making physical contact, like hugging. For the other girls, she is very distant and respectful. To me, the time they filmed ASEL was the golden age of Morning Musume. If you have never seen the video of Morning Musume dressed in reindeer costumes, singing Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer, I’d definitely recommend it. (They let Ayaka participate in that one, too.) So cute! Even one of my family members who doesn’t like Japanese stuff said that this was the most adorable video ever!

That’s all for now! Have a happy M.L. King Day!

Why is your font so small?

Sorry about that! I was writing this entry last night, and I spent a lot of time on it. Somehow, I got logged off. I went to publish it, and I got a message "You don't have authority to do that." I clicked 'back,' and I had lost everything! Very frustrating. So, this morning, I wrote it again, this time in Word. Then, I copied it and pasted it to the blog, and that is how it turned out. If you can tell me how to make the font bigger, that would be nice.

You can click the eraser on the formatting options (besides the toggle html and bold icons) to remove previous formatting you've done :) hope it helps!

If you go to Manger blogs in your control panel, you should be able to edit the entry.  Just highlight the text and make it bigger.

Thanks for the tips! I'm going to have to try to do them when I have time.

OK, I fixed the font size. It'll be easier to read now.
