Such great news! I am really happy for her, and I think she'll be a wonderful captain.

With this announcement comes a certain level of responsibility and I think she'll be able to pull that off just fine, even if she says she's unreliable

She's an extrovert and funny girl, and she's had some nice TV appearances so far but hope that her being made captain now can ensure even more of that.

She was now replaced for a few upcoming theater performances because of "poor health reasons" according to the official AKB48 blog. Definitely not a good sign at all. Either they try to avoid some heat she might get because of the (still yet to be confirmed) rumors by some hardcore fans or the situation is much worse already (assuming there are no real —as in physical— health issues, of course, which I think we can safely rule out in this situation/ case).

Well after what happened with the fan at the NMB 2nd gen show (he was yelling about Shimarena's "scandal" and was escorted from the premises), maybe they're just trying to prevent something similar from happening?

The "criminal activity" exclusion bit is suspicious, I think. Now if they consider the underage drinking (or the "paid dating" talk) a criminal activity it could haunt Minarun still. Well, lets wait and see what happens, but I also hope they don't fire her. What really should matter here is not some shady teenager past, but how the girl improved in the AKB48 context which I think she did rather well, else she wouldn't have become captain.

Interestingly she was part of the Flying Get performance, but not of the other parts (performance introduction and game segment) of MUSIC JAPAN from 28th August (see tracker). Not sure how long the preproduction time is of this show, of course... just something I noticed.

Announcement:
2.) Ooba Mina, aka Minarun, captain of Team 4, will be suspended.

Her suspension comes as a result of the blog entries she made before she became an AKB48 member (mentions of underage drinking). She herself asked for the suspension.
She resigns from her captaincy, and withdraws from the Janken-tournament as well. Time period of suspension is not specified, and no mention of whether she'll return as captain either.

Suspension is better that a forced graduation..

If she suffered the same fate as Anna Mori, then I would totally not care anymore for Team 4.. She's the only one that I really like from that team..
