Hi all !
I would like to know if there's any chinese band (doesn't have to be pop, every style welcomed) that more or less achieved what Morning Musume did in Japan. Reason is I'm moving to Shanghaï next year and I need to learn mandarin. Best thing to learn a language is to work on material you like. When I look back at how much I learned about japanese culture and language and codes through Hello!Project's songs, movies or related tv shows, and how it helped me establishing communication with Japanese people during my holidays over there, i'm just amazed. I knew a lot more than I thought I did, without actually having made any effort to learn, just for entertainment. Knowing what a ganguro is, or the catchphrase "this is a pen", or who SMAP are, or what a kappa is... these cultural connexions helped me a lot during my holidays, and I all that stuff know because of Morning Musume.
So, the band(s) has to :
* be popular in China.
* sing in mandarin
* appear or have appeared in various chinese tv shows, movies and/or dramas. Those would be accessible from the net with english subtitles.
* preferably girls band.
S.H.E. is my best guess yet. Do you have any other band name?
Thank you!
