Defending Weeaboos---Why or Why Not?

I've seen comment after comment on some pages/video comments that are just abhorrent towards so-called Weeaboos. Do they really deserve this much hatred and venom spewed at them? Has anyone hear been "accused" of being one (either here, on youtube, or another website/forum)? Have you ever accused someone of being one? 

 

Now, I'm asking this to promote civilized discussions and thought provoking conversations. If you cannot control yourself or back up what you say with logical and intelligent language, then please, do not respond. 

 

Here's my stance: There have been "wannabes" in different cultures time after time after time. I don't think it's such a crime to look up to another culture or people and I feel that it is human nature to want to be a part of something that you think is better than the life you have now. There are many people who do seem to be preconditioned to feel this way. No, it may not be a realistic way to live and there might be some that are completely annoying....but they probably won't see it if they are constantly chastised and beat up (verbally, not physically). 

 

I have more, but I want to see what you all have to say about it.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a topic started for him. He has one of the smoothest voices I've heard in J-pop/R&B. And he's only 21 years old.

Most of you may have heard him on the 1st ending song for Durarara!!(Trust Me). Which is where I heard is golden voice and from there I just looked him up and have been hooked ever since.

He has also played Sebastian Michaelis from Kuroshitsuji on stage and of course sang Bird for the ending theme for the anime.

I just love his voice and his song Foolish Foolish has been stuck in my head for over a week now. Gotta love him!! :good:

VCR vs. DVD vs. Internet

Okay, I'm going to totally age myself here; but I remember watching anime on VHS tapes.........YES!! VHS!!! I remember going to like Blockbuster and renting Project A-ko (or actually begging my mom to rent it for me). As time went by (cue: whistling wind) I saw DVD replace VHS and then soon the internet became a prominent factor in me watching anime that had yet to be released in the US.............although there were some fan-subbers that still sold their VHS copies (yay bootleg :whistle:).

Anyway, how did you use to view anime when you first started watching it??

I left a little tid-bit about how I was feeling earlier today and got a few responses; so I thought that I would expand it more as a topic.

What would you like to have? It could be certain items of clothing, video games, music, posters, etc..............it could be anything that you can buy. Say why you want it (if probable) and probalby why you don't have it yet. Just to keep it nice and fresh, I guess it should be 1 reply a day.

I want a pair of UGGS. I know people say that they're out of style; but I really don't buy things for "style" and "fashion". GinaRAWR responded to me earlier saying that they're warm and comfy and that's what I want. I want nice snuggly, warm feet when I go out as it starts getting cooler and cooler, and so my tootsies won't freeze during the next Virginia Tech football game we go to.

The reason I don't have a pair yet is because they're just too expensive. I want the tall ones, and they run at least $180 a pair.........do you know how many clothes I could buy with that? Or video games? Or food? That's at least 4 maybe 5 trips to the gas station for my truck! I dunno. I can't ask for a pair for Christmas because we're hoping to get new countertops and a sink. Which cellphone company do you use?

Wasn't sure I should make this a topic or not since we have a cellphone topic.......but I've been wondering about carriers. I mean, especially after hearing the news about the monopoly class action suit against apple and AT&T.

So........which company do you use with your phone and do you like them. You can give the pros and cons as well.

I have Verizon and it's not bad. All of my family and in-laws pretty much have Verizon so I don't have to worry about minutes and stuff when I call them. The only problem is that my brother has an iPhone so, I have to monitor how long I talk with him.......but it's not too bad since when my free minutes come up, it's early evening for him since he lives on the west coast and I live on the east coast.

PROS:
I can pretty much call from anywhere and get service
Calls are always nice and clear
Only get a few dropped calls (and that's only if I use at school)


CONS:
I can't use my music on my phone as a ringtone---it must be downloaded from Verizon's site
I get zero signal from my concrete block prison ...er school
I had to buy a data plan ($10/month) with my phone......but it gives me unlimited web browing.
