Yes, Metroid is a lot more easier to explain chronologically.

I think they explained Legend of Zelda timeline in the book by Miyamoto: Hyrule Historia well enough http://en.wikipedia....Hyrule_Historia

But not all of it so there are some mysteries how it goes.

I am currently searching for Metroid Zero Mission for GBA in order to play it (as it is a remake of the first metroid). Or I have to win Meta Riddley and Metroid Prime in the original Metroid Prime for GameCube as you got the original Metroid game to play as a reward for passing the game. Nice feature that was, but I was not able to get that far

There are rumours that Nintendo is ready to do a similar book for Metroid as they did with Zelda. I really hope they do.

Ah, and I was mistaken. Makers of Metroid Prime trilogy (Retro Games) were making a game but it was not Metroid at all. It was Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and it is coming to Wii U in early 2014.

Nintendo Direct which was shown yesterday did not mention any new Metroid games at all. At least they promised a new Zelda game in 2014, but did not show any of it. They only showed a Dynasty Warriors game with Zelda skins in it.

So a new Metroid game is going to take some time unless it is coming for 3DS.

I started with a game similar to Super Metroid (I think it was called Mega Turrican) and with the real thing way back, but my first true exposure into Metroid scene was with GBA and Metroid Fusion which I loved. It was hard to beat.

Then came Metroid Prime, but I was not able to finish it on GameCube (I dit it on Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii, where the wiimote seemed to be the one thing that I needed to really get my skills good enough to finally beat the evil Meta-Riddley). I really liked the first one in the trilogy but the other two are not far behind.

And I even like the last serious attempt at Metroid games, the Other M, which was a return to more 2D setting than the Metroid trilogy. I have gotten the other Metroid games from Nintendo eShop and played those too, but I am eagerly awaiting the next Metroid game. It seems that the makers of the trilogy (Retro Games) are doing something for Wii U, but nothing has been confirmed. I keep looking for new pieces of information from Nintendo Direct but nothing so far.

It seems that the storyline in Metroid is as difficult to piece together as it was with Zelda games. No official timeline has been established, so I was not bothered how Metroid trilogy was set in the general Metroid mythos. And maybe we have not seen the last of the Metroid Prime storyline yet.
