Hajime No Ippo, is in my opinion one of the best sports anime & manga around, if not the best.

It is about a boy, Makunouchi Ippo, who's job is to help at his mother's fishing company. While having a hard time
at school, being bullied, he met a famous yet still rising boxing champion Takamura Mamoru.
Since their confrontation, his life changed and stepped into the land of boxing.

The anime & manga involves boxing, but it has also very deep life situations and problems, and it also
has immensively good comedy!

Those who wonder if it is good, well I have been rewatching the series for 4 times by now. Unlike other animes like Bleach, 2 times.

Many types of genres are to be found in manga, mostly comedy, action or love related genres.
Also devided for all types of people, such as teen, children or grownups.

The most common:
-Komodo: For children, most including cute and unmatured content.
-Shonen: For young teen boys, mosly including action.
-Shoujo: For young teen girls, girlish things like romance if you'd insist.
And many other genres...

It's quite been in my interest to know how many people like action, romance or other genres.
