I can't believe y'all allowed this thread to be a day late.

Cute vs. Sexy in Japanese pop culture and it's meaning.

13 March 2010 - 11:29 AM

Yes yes, I know what you're thinking "not this stuff again, I just want to enjoy my idol without over-analyzing this sort of thing", "I'm sick of these sort of things, this stuff should be banned from the site. We don't need whole topics all the time for this tripe" or, I forgot what the third, different thing I was going to say was, but this is why I don't tend to make these topics. Even though I'd like to make them all the time, I remember how they were responded to in the past.

Without topics like these, these subjects keep leaking into the member threads. You don't like it, that's fine, but we can at least help to contain it.

So anyway, to the topic.
A lot of people in the idol fandom think that cute is underrated and that sexy is overrated.
Though there are different opinions on what cute and sexy is.

In any case, some users have made the poignant assertion that there is a problem with the conflation of cute with childish.
And that cute often just means a few qualities that a lot of people find positive. Such as a healthy, happy disposition. Which in some ways could denote more maturity than immaturity than anything.

I don't think that cute or sexy is necessarily degrading. Though both can be depending on how they're used.
Discuss.

Please don't flame me for making another one of these topics. Some of us are just itching, and we have to have a quarantine.

My internet is weird

25 July 2008 - 10:12 AM

Why would my computer be able to download a torrent at 40+ kilobytes a second yet not be able to browse the internet before, during, or after downloading.
And then after turning off and restarting my computer, being able to browse the internet again?

Oh God, this show kills me with cute.
Seriously, the cute level is just wayyy off the scale.

Right brained or Left brained?

There are already several Jung test topics here at the forum, so I thought this would be refreshing.

This dancer right here is supposed to be able to help you determine if you are left brained or right brained. Meaning which hemisphere of your brain is more dominant. Which is supposedly supposed to have an effect on personality.

I can't believe that there are people who can actually see it going in any other direction than I do. Were people not constantly giving different responses, I would think it were a bunch of baloney and that it only moves in one direction.

I can ONLY see it moving clockwise. No amount of doing math before hand or focusing on one section of it more or less can get me to change it's direction.
If you see it clockwise, like me, you're right brain dominant. If you see it counterclockwise, you're left brain dominant. If it easily switches on you, you probably don't have much of a dominant side.
