It's good that she is able to put her skills to good use instead of doing nothing substantial with Upfront. But I supposed she will still keep her IG public because we are unsure if her new job is something within the entertainment industry or she will go back to being a commoner and lead a private life.

I just saw the post on her IG. SHOCKING to me. It's not that I can't accept it or anything, but I was hoping there would be a little hint of her relationship somehow. Nonetheless, I feel happy for her and wish her the best.

I was so shocked this morning when I saw this, but I'm soooo happy for her omg :3 !!

 

It also explains why she didn't do the Berryz event with Captain (other than not being with the company ofc, but knowing her, she would've probably done it if she wasn't preggers haha )

Well, it's a good learning experience for me.
Usually I go by the wedding band but she did a very good job at hiding her left hand and her 4th finger all these time.

It seems that all the idols I supported who became mommy, only reveal about their marriage after their babies were born.

Is this the standard culture in Japan?

^ In Japan, there is an established line between a public figure and a private citizen. Social media has arguably reduced that gap to some extent, but it is generally accepted by Japanese society that someone who does not work in a public-facing capacity has a reasonable expectation of privacy and won't have their name or photo (usually always no photos, but sometimes the name is public) used even if they are related to or married to an entertainer. As such, entertainers are not obligated to disclose publicly when they get married to a private citizen, and even when they do announce it, there is very, very little information given besides, "I got married." So while they are not obligated to announce their marriage when it happens, it does make sense to tack that on when changing one's identity to that of a parent and announcing a child. This public/private distinction is also why idols who announce a formal retirement from entertainment will often have their faces blurred out of new photos or their names will go unmentioned if they continue to hang out with current idols, as they are now private citizens and not public figures.

I didn't see it mentioned here, but Chinami stated in her post that things had been difficult for her the last while and that's why no announcements had been made, which, from my reading, implies that she may have had a difficult pregnancy.

  Risako said on her blog that Chinami had called her by videophone about the marriage, and sent her an email when the baby was born. Rii also said she had been in contact with Chii almost every day for the past few months. I'm sure they will have a lot more to share with each other about being mommy in the days and years ahead!
