Definitely Ichi Rittoru no Namida.

I never cried even when i watched sad movie or drama before, but when i watched Ichi Rittoru no Namida, nearly the entire episodes I cried.

The saddest JDrama can't i think of any that is worty the title but the saddest Japanese movie is 20th Century boys the trilogy!

That one was definitely a sad and depressing one, great acting, especially in the drama version.

I recently watched a jdrama movie called "Ai wa Mieru" (Love Sees). It starts with a blind girl trying to win a music competition, but loses. She loses her confidence until she meets another blind musician dude and they go out together. Both sets of parents warn them about getting married and having a child. Stuff happens, etc, etc.

I highly recommend it. I could not stop watching and it was so sad during many parts. (Not as sad as 1 Litre of Tears, but it's hard for anything to be as sad as that.)

My list is not of "sad" dramas.

It's of drama's that make you cry. I hope that's the intention of this thread. The difference between sad and make you cry, is that sad leaves an empty sad feeling, while other make you cry dramas make you cry because you feel encouraged by it.

That's why I like encouraging ones that make you cry better.

anyway, top 10:

1. Ichi rittoru no namida (sad, touching and encouraging. Definitely the best drama ever made)

A tie between the next few:
2. Sukoshi wa, ongaeshi ga dekitakana
2. My Girl (Arashi, not the korean one)
2. Boku to kanojo to kanojo no ikiru michi

Sokushi is similar to ichi rittoru, but I won't spoil it. My girl and BKK are similar to each other too. The ending is encouraging, but there are sad parts that make you want to cry.

Then:

5. Shiroi Haru
5. Myu no anyo papa ni ageru
5. 99 Nen no ai ~JAPANESE AMERICANS~

These three are pretty good too.

and finally

8. Ryuusei no Kizuna - not exactly sad, but it's touching because of how the siblings support each other
9. Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu
10. Taiyou no uta with erika sawajiri

9 and 10 I don't really like. Bad acting for 9, and 10 is just not really sad. But appearantly people on here like it so... And I haven't watched enough sad dramas to replace those. But I think it will be replaced after I finish downloading Taiyou no kisetsu, and find a subbed version of boku no ikiru michi

My saddest ones

1 - Ichi Rittoru no Namida !! (I watched many sad movies and drama but only this one stole me tears ... it was at the end).
2 - Akai Ito (happy end but really sad).
3 - Taiyou no uta movie and drama (but it's really beautiful at the same time).
4 - Ikigami.
5 - Boku no hatsukoi wo kimi ni sasagu.
6 - 14 sai no haha (poor little girl).

And another JDrama I just started now (I've only seen the first episode so far), but alrady impressed me is LIFE
It's about High school - bullying, suicid, self-multilation etc. - The dark side of school life!

Definetely 1 Litre Of Tears and Koizora, couldn't stop crying when I saw those two, but I've heard that Niini No Koto Wasurenaide is really sad as well

1) 1 Liter of tears (if u watch it u'll cry in every episode)

2) Koizora (No matter how many times i'v watched it i still cry)

6) 14 Sai No Haha (she get pregnant at 14)

Yes, absolutely 1 litre of tears.

Especially that scene where Aya wanted to call her mother in the hospital, but she couldn't operate the telephone anymore and she was all alone in that corridor.
That was so sad, I cried so hard, just thinking about it now makes me all teary again.

1 litre was pretty emotional if only for the fact you began to feel for a girl from whom everything was taken away, and it stirs emotion if for the simple fact that you feel some pity for the girl who despite what's thrown in her way finds the strength somehow to keep fighting and pushing anyway, and who asked for nothing but the opportunity to struggle and to be an inspiration to others, and think of others while not wanting others to think of her.

there's also sekai no chuushin de ai wo sakebu, also mildl tear jerking if for the fact this is the story of a man who must come to grips with a past so incredibly heartbreaking for him that he tries so hard to forget, but must relive it all in his dreams, where his will cannot prevent the thoughts from haunting him. And you cry as you watch him struggle so hard to come to grips, to struggle to let it go and live on, rather than halt his progress with his stubborn refusal and hesitance.

and my memory fails me on the others, those were the 2 that crossed my mind first lulz

For me the number 1 sad drama is Ichi Litre no Namida!

Others include:
- Koizora, This actually depressed me so much at episode 3 that it took me 2-3 years to finish it >_< I also cried for about an hour straight.
- Akai Ito
- Shiroi Haru

omg depression from start to finish. Most of the series usually have some sort of "comic relief" but not in this one... no no just darkness

- Bara no nai Hanaya

A father, a daughterr, a dead mother and a lot of hate... you know the drill...

- Mother

A little child is abused by her parents and nobody cares... One of the teachers realizes this and takes off with the child.
Probably the best acting by a little child ever in this one... by Ashida Mana

- Loss Time Life

How would you spend your last hours alive? Time is ticking, go do something!
Lots of comedy in this one but really sad at the same time...

I feel like I haven't ever cried so much in my whole life. And becouse I haven't watched any other doramas lol.
