Ok these two songs are kinda different but I like them. Glad Kaede got a shining bone at the end of her MM career

How on earth did they keep giving MM the most lackluster songs ever, I really don't know.

Both songs really sound so uninspired. At least they tried the line distribution to give all the girls something to sing.

 

"Swing Swing Paradise" sounds like "Mr Moonlight" x "What is LOVE?".

"Happy Birthday to me" is meh...

Both songs are indeed strong! Swing Swing Paradise is very in the vein of What is LOVE?/Romance ni Mezameru, so while it's unfortunate that it's yet another recycled sound, there's no denying that it's catchy. Happy Birthday to Me! sounds to me like one of those crazy b-sides we'd get back in the day, it gives me vibes of Koi wa Hassou meets Yamete yo! Sindbad - it's really fun.

I don't completely like Swing Swing Paradise, so hopefully it'll grow on me. But Happy Birthday To Me is very nice. Not amazing, but nice enough. The line distribution seemed more fair than most of the time, so that's a nice thing to have.

I think even if the songs don't fit everybody's tastes, this time Tsunku succeeds in making Kaedi shine for one last time, just like he wrote Teenage Solution, which fits Maa-chan's image. Also, if MM keeps having songs which are not "Yoshi yoshi", "A gonna", "Seishun night", "Gyuu saretai" nor "K&K", and fit MM's current image, maybe MM will not be the least interesting group according to my perspective anymore.

I feel like Swing Swing Paradise screams Hello! Project but Happy Birthday to Me is just okay.

Probably will love them in the future but these are my first impressions,

Finally had time to watch the "Full Chorus" performances. I think I'll need a couple more listens in a less rushed environment to feel them out, but so far I'm definitely leaning more towards "Swing" (even though "Birthday" does have earworm potential at certain points).

Happy Birthday to Me! MV:

Honestly, not counting the 15th and 16th albums (because I liked both albums for the most part), this is probably their best song in a while. It's like a fun mixture of quirky and cool Musume, and Dii really helped carry the song vocally (which she should've had more opportunities to before graduating). The MV isn't spectacular by any means, but it's nice to look at especially when comparing it to CCCBNM's MV, lol. I'm really excited for Swing Swing Paradise's MV to come out next!

I love the WRio scenes. I didn't expect them to be the visual centers of the MV since between the two songs, it was the one Kaedii was the most heavily featured, but not complaining. Both are charismatic great singers and they work perfect as a duo.

WRio center, rapper Ayumin is back, line distrubition seems pretty good, interesting melodies and the arrangement is done well

I haven't watched the full MV yet, but I still stand by the song having some real potential earworm moments. I'll probably catch myself humming it in the shower without realizing.

I don't know... Happy birthday to me sounds like an ANGERME song or something. Getting used to it, but not loving it.

I encourage Tsunku to write more songs like Happy Birthday to Me/Swing Swing Paradise. MM's singles had become the biggest disappointment in H!P for 2 - 3 years until this

One more thing, if the manager focuses on Kitario, Panda, Homatan and Rairi (Rio2) at the same time, this is what I fear the most: mass graduation will come soon after Kaedi's graduation.

Well, we've kind of known for a couple years that graduations were going to ramp up soon given the lack of them during covid with so many members. My guess is newer songs will feature 14ki+ as the new "faces" of the group while 9/10/11ki lines will get split between them and 12ki/13ki as the older girls depart. Eventually, management will feature mostly 14ki+ songs in concerts smattered with throwbacks, much like we see current MM focusing on Colorful Era or later. A phasing out of the OG in favor on the new faces, so to say.

 

I'm not that big on SSP but omg HBtM is such a jam. I really dig the rap parts, and it's nice to see they cycle girls in it instead of just assigning it to the same 3 each iteration.
