Wow...
So is this SKE's highest selling day?
And I don't really like this single either.. not really into it I should say....

I know that highest total sales for a single goes to Choco no Dorei, with 671,623 copies.

Ares13, it's not unexpected.
SKE48 has music cards, NMB48 has not. If NMB48 had music cards, they would've beaten SKE48.

A 192k gap is not unexpected because you can estimate SKE got about 250k alone from music cards. I don't even know if they need to be downloaded to count; that would seem incredibly counterproductive if that were true.
Last SKE single had 383k for the first week, 87k were Soundscan, meaning there were roughly about 300k theater editions sold. If we use 87k as non-theater edition again, they've sold around 500k through theater editions. Then take away the music cards, that's 250k. Which given graduations, election, whatever, that's a pretty fair and logical number for SKE for the first day. They are not on an upswing right now where they would suddenly have their best selling week ever by 50k on the first day alone. You can look at the handshake sales and see that.
Really you can assume SKE sold at the most around 337k normally. NMB isn't selling 573k by normal means, but SKE aren't either and NMB would've definitely outsold SKE under normal means.

Ah yes, Ian Martin, hater of idols.
Look, anything written by that guy related to idols, will be equal to vomit and bile, so it's not worth reading. There's a couple of other authors I can't recall right now, but what's funny, is that when AKB48 wasn't popular or even existed, these guys directed the same hate towards Morning Musume. "Blah blah isn't music blah blah destroying music blah blah look at me I'm a journalist" etc.
What's funny, is that if you completely erased idols from Japanese music industry, there wouldn't be much left to talk about. There'd be the aging old heroes of the ancient past, who cannot produce a decent single or album even if their lives depended on it, and there's the new line of artists, who are often quite hit or miss. In short, any artist can do the exact same thing that idols do, and some tries to, but it has little effect. So whose fault is that? The idols? The fans of idols? Or the artists? Or the fans of artists?
I know idols are unconventional compared to regular plain old artists, but at least they manage to have their fans buy their releases. Which is more than what artists manage. So I think Ian Martin and his Neojaponisme author-friends should take their unintelligent piss and vinegar somewhere else instead.
Also, read the post in the article comment section by SlightlyDisappointed...
It is well known that if anybody abused these music cards, it's certainly not SKE48 - who only with this single included them. It is in fact EXILE and other similar acts on Avex, that has run rampage with them, for a long time now. None of which Ian Martin cares to tell the readers about. Also, I have many times on H!O commented upon rumors or articles where Cyzo is used as a source, to state that anything Cyzo says about anything, is usually complete nonsense, because Cyzo is a bottom of the barrel waste of everybody's time tabloid level. Yet Ian Martin uses it as a primary source...

Good comment by SlightlyDisappointed, Krusha.
And thank you for the info on "journalist" Ian Martin. Not knowing about him, I didn't share his conclusions on the subject though.
Sadly, he's also an example of many of his peers here (my subjective opinion, I know).
