Girls Unit Project
A crowd sourced girls unit being supported by DiamondBlog, with Kago Ai as the first member.
They will be taking submissions for songs, lyrics, choreography and costume design from the general public as well as having fans vote for new members, songs, set lists etc.

the rest are opional and only needed if you intent to send in music, lyrics, costume design etc.

Step 7:
Confirm Registration
Check your details and,
click on 登録する　(bottom middle, blue background with white font)

Step 8:
Go to the girls project page, input your ID and password and,
click on マイページ (yellow background with blue font) to add points and see your points total

The ending date should be 2014/02/12 - only 2 weeks away, I think they will need to step up their advertising if either of the girls is going to get 30,000 points

They changed the ending date to 2/7 - Kago's birthday, but I think that is just a coincidence. They also simplified the voting, so you don't have to create an account to vote.

Remi seems almost certain to be chosen, only 4 days to go and she has a big lead over Ryouna

I went to check it, and apparently it's all been closed up now because of voter fraud or something lol. They're going to investigate before moving forward (or so Google translate tells me)

     I think that they really just like taking their time over things, it's been around 4 months since the project was announced and still no new members added    , and they probably also have to consult with Kago, who is busy celebrating her birthday.

  Hopefully they will announce Remi as the new member shortly and speed up the second audition.

Anyway can someone tell me how to enter the competition?

  You have to become a member of the Girls Unit Project website here (it's free), [edit: description on how to join up is in the 1st post, to make submissions you have to fill in your name, address and telephone number in the optional fields in step 6 - it assumes you have a Japanese address, but any address will probably work] and then just login and click on the bottom link of this page where you can upload a jpg of your design, a description and details of your design, plus one other file, then submit your entry.

   If you are serious about it, I'd recommend finding someone who is reasonably fluent in Japanese to translate your introduction and the description of you design, as well as translate all the contractual stuff (you can message me if you can't find anyone else, but my Japanese isn't that good).

 You have until 2014-3-31 to submit costume designs.

 

 The 2nd audition is up to the third stage now, and third audition, for 15-20 year-olds, looks like it won't include a voting stage so hopefully they will have selected enough girls for the group by the end of March, and with a couple months of training and rehearsals should be ready to debut in June/July.

Second audition is over, they narrowed it down to one girl .... who withdrew at the last minute . So onto the third audition.

 

The third audition will be looking for one dancer and one vocalist (15-20 Y/O)

 

Ryouna and Remi have started taking a few lessons per week together, and Kago joined them for a dance lesson last week - Remi's blog post

No set ending date, they'll probably keep running it until they find the right girls.

Not a big fan of the winner of the Cute song contest - "HappyHappySweetKiss!" yet, but it will probably sound better with new vocals and better production, and I like all the other songs in the top 3-4.

The top 3 songs from the voting plus 4 songs chosen by the Executive Producer will be selected.

 

If they keep selecting songs at this rate they will have 32 songs (16 by voting and 16 by the E.P.) .......  just need a few more girls to sing them all.

They selected best overall and best in category songs as well, no actual prizes, but I guess if they are going to release a single these are the songs most likely to be chosen.

 There is a bit of a summary down the bottom of the page , where they say very surprised at the quality of the song submissions and choose a lot more than the 5-6 songs that they were originally expecting to choose.
 They are also, understandably, sweating over the prospect of the CD manufacturing costs.

Apparently they announced their debut single "Sekai Seifuku" (22th of July), first live (26th of July) and group name "Girls Beat!!".

I made this thread when the group was still in the planning stage, now that they have a name for the group and a release date for the single it probably deserves a new thread - shall message the mods and ask them to lock this topic (if I can figure out how to do that)
