Who really knows how much money UFA is making? I doubt any of the information about their revenue/profits is public.
But I do wonder about UFA's profitability because so much of what the do looks so low-budget -- their most recent TV show is good, but it's obviously done with very little money. Until recently their website was very bare bones and they use a gmail address. They re-use a lot of outfits and sets for their PVs and so forth. Not exactly a great sign.
They really used a gmail address? Wow... Umm that IS pretty bad... Even if they've switched to their own domain now or whatever... Maybe it isn't completely laziness that's making the PVs so much less "exciting" than in the past... I'm talking about the sets here... Sure, giant kana are nice, but what about when there were huge sets with props and stuff... Maybe there is a lack of money?
I sure HOPE they're getting some good income... Because at least then, we know it's POSSIBLE to produce high quality PVs... Just get the people behind the scenes off their butts.
But if they don't have the money for it, then that's another story.
I'm a bit skeptical about the lack of funds though... I mean, they still have concert tours with tons of lights and special effects... And it's not like the PVs are completely empty... (I'm talking just a plain old room for them to dance in, and a plain old wall to stand in front of for close up versions.) There's still some stuff... Such as, the giant kana, the cacti, and... Umm... The two floors. If that counts.
That stuff (especially the giant kana) HAS to cost them SOMETHING...
It's hard to know, really, because as you say, it's not likely that their financial situation is something just anyone would know, or be able to easily find out.
