yeah videos require a lot of space. I got a 500gb external hdd, almost filled up and it exists of almost only videos (and a couple of games). My laptop has a 120gb hdd inside, and it's also almost stuffed, back in the day that was more than enough!

i've only got 1.24 GB left on my HDD, about 11.3 GB on it is H!P stuff. i've got two external HDDs, one for H!P stuff which i have about 60GB left on, it's 280GB big. the other one is for other movies, music, games and such. but the stuff i use often i have on my HDD in the computer since it's a laptop and i don't have access to the external HDDs all the time. i've got some 80GB left on my other external HDD, so i'm not worrying just yet.

Part of my problem is my obsession with having .vob/.ts's rather than re-encodes. I'm fussy like that. I'd like a laptop, but they just don't have the storage space I need.

Yeah I know what you mean I have that same problem, so I buy external HDDs

What I also really hate is that a 500GB HDD (for example) isn't actually 500 GB, but it's around 500.000.000.000 bytes, that makes it around 465 GB (500.000.000.000 / 1024^3). So you buy 500GB but get 35GB less. Back in the days when people decided to round it, it wasn't such a big deal because there was almost no loss since the disks weren't that big but now it's terrible because 35GB, you can put a couple of dvd's on it, install windows a couple of times (not that that's necessary) or do a lot of other stuff with it.

the total HD capacity of my pc is around 500GB... and combined I have... 2.17GB free space left... lol.

I really should burn some of the data to a dvd... but it's nicer to have them all there, y'know?

I've only used up like 80GB, and I can't figure out where the rest is... I add every folder in my C: drive and theres still 40+ missing.

I wish I was better with computers. haha

With a WD Raptor X and a Western Digial VelociRaptor, I obviously picked performance over disk space. I just burn stuff to a disk if I like it, or just delete it if I've already watched it a couple of times, such as some of the older Hello! Morning episodes.

HDD are really cheap these days. They actually go as low as 0.15USD per GB. I got mine at 80 USD for a 500gb HDD... I'm bought 2 and am happy now http://www.hello-onl...tyle_emoticons/hello-online/smile.gif

Well i have a lot of spare space left to be honest, as i have around 1 TB disc space in my 3 HDDs.
