Thanks, that's what we were planning on doing anyway but it was just... too confusing to do for the first chapter. We're hoping that when we finish all the stories read like slightly different stories because of the events that occur in them.

-------------

Chapter 3; Tsuji Nozomi's POV (Added 5th July)
“You really think we didn’t know that?” Aibon asked, raising her eyebrows.
“What do you mean?” They both replied in unison. I glanced at Aibon and laughed – that was like what we did. People called us twins partly because of how similar we look and because we do and say so many things at the same time.
“You both separately confessed to us. It was only a matter of time before it happened, and we were both expecting it.” I clarified.
“You mean I was so nervous for nothing?” Rika asked us, which we answered with a nod. “Damn!”
Yossie pushed up her sleeve to glance at her watch. “We’ve got 5 minutes until we have to go back in. We either walk now or run when the bell goes. I’m voting walk now.” She stood up, put her bag over her shoulder and started walking. We all followed her.
“What have you got now, Aibon?”
“Erm.. I’ve got English. What about you, Non?”
“Japanese… I wonder if we’re ever going to have a class together?”
“I have no idea. Anyway, I’m going this way. I’ll see you at lunch!” We all waved at each other and made our way to our classrooms. I was pleased to see I knew at least one face – Aichan.
“Takahashi-san, hello again!”
“I told you, call me Ai-chan. Did you have a good break, Non-chan?”
“Yep, it was pretty fun. Do you know how many other classes we have together?”
We both took out our timetables and compared them – we only had one class different, which was study hall. I was so happy that I had at least one person in almost all my classes that I thought it was almost compensation for not having any so far with Aibon.
“Say Non-chan, since we’re in almost all our classes together how about we get to know each other? Here’s my mobile number. Message me sometime, okay?” She smiled at me, passing me a piece of paper with 11 digits on.
“Sure, I’ll message you tonight so you have my number too.” I smiled in return. “Do you want to sit together?”
“Sure, let me save a desk for my other friend though.” She said as we made our way to the back of the classroom, which fortunately had only one other person sat there and she was at the far wall. I sat by the window and Ai-chan sat next to me. She kept looking over to the door to look for her friend entering, when I heard her exclaim “Makocchan!”
I quickly did a double take whilst she looked at me.
“Eh?! I thought you moved to New Zealand!”
“I did, but I moved back! How have you been?! Are you and everyone else still friends?!”
“Yep, we’re all still best friends!” I looked over at Ai-chan to see her grinning.
“At least now I don’t have to introduce you two.” We all smiled as Makocchan sat down next to Ai, grinning at her.
Great. I thought to myself. Yet another couple. When’s it my turn?!

Chapter 3; Kago Ai's POV

Obviously! “You really think we didn’t know that?” I raised both my eyebrows as I pointed this out.
“What do you mean?” They said at the same time – proving my point. People who say things at the same time are obviously soul mates!
“You both separately confessed to us.” Nono explained. “It was only a matter of time before it happened, and we were both expecting it.”
Rika looked almost distraught. “You mean I was so nervous for nothing?” we both nodded. “Damn!”
“We’ve got 5 minutes until we have to go back in.” Yossie said, looking at her watch. “We either walk now or run when the bell goes. I’m voting walk now.”
“What have you got now, Aibon?”
I took out my timetable and checked… I’ll never remember this! “Erm.. I’ve got English. What about you, Non?”
“Japanese… I wonder if we’re ever going to have a class together?”
“I have no idea. Anyway, I’m going this way. I’ll see you at lunch!” Heading towards our classrooms, we all waved to each other one final time.
When I got to English, I was surprised to see one of the girls from earlier at the back of the class, staring out the window – the smoking ones, I mean.
“Hi.” I said, setting my bag down on the desk. “Mind if I sit here?”
“If it isn’t Kago Badass.” She smirked. “Sure, go ahead.” She leant back casually in her chair, stretching her arms out behind her and her school shirt rose up her stomach a few inches.
“Um, sorry, but what’s your name?” I asked cautiously.
“I’m Saito Ichigo.” Nope, never heard of her.
“You won’t tell any one, will you?” I whispered. The class had started.
“My name’s Ayaka Kimura! I am your English teacher!” said the teacher, in English.
“Tell any one what?” she said. “About your smoking habit?”
I looked around quickly to make sure no one had heard. They hadn’t. “Please don’t say anything!”
She laughed again. “I might… I might not.” My eyes bulged pleadingly.
“Please,” I begged. “Please. I’ll do anything.”
“I’m joking,” she prodded me in the ribs. “Although that all depends on what you’re willing to do.” I shuddered at the perversion in Ichigo’s voice.
“Kago!” called Kimura-sensei. “Please read aloud the first two lines on the handout.”
Oh crap. “On… either side… the river lie… long fields… of… barley and rye.” I read out shakily.
“Very good, Kago-san. You may sit down now.”
“Nerd,” muttered Ichigo.
I rested my head on my hands and hoped the end of the lesson would come soon.

Chapter 3; Yoshizawa Hitomi's POV
“You really think we didn’t know that?” Aibon asked us, raising her eyebrows.
“What do you mean?” We both replied, speaking at exactly the same time. I tried to suppress an expression of horror as I realised we were starting to sound more and more like Aibon and Nono.
“You both separately confessed to us. It was only a matter of time before it happened, and we were both expecting it.” Nono explained. Did we? I know I did but I had no idea Rika did… I felt myself smiling.
“You mean I was so nervous for nothing?” Rika asked them, which they answered with a nod. “Damn!”
I tried so hard not to laugh, so I covered it up by looking at my watch.. “We’ve got 5 minutes until we have to go back in. We either walk now or run when the bell goes. I’m voting walk now.” I stood up, grabbed my bag and started walking, and soon heard the others trailing after me. I turned to Rika to smile at her which she returned.
“I’ve got a free period now so I’m going for a wander. I’ll see you later.” I smiled at her and squeezed her hand and turned towards the gate, watching her heading into the school. “Bye!” I yelled after her, and she waved.
I quickly ran out of the gates, knowing I only had an hour before lunch began. I decided to go to the tea shop across the road since it was quiet and I could start mine and Rika’s plan in peace. As I went in I walked up to the counter, waved at the owner, ordered a cup of green tea and went and sat on the sofa by the toilets, so I could start planning.
I grabbed my notepad from my bag along with a pen and opened the book to a clean page, scrawling Operation Get-Nono-and-Aibon-together at the top and underlining it a few times.
Option one – lock them in a room and hope for the best. I scribbled that option out as I didn’t want to be around if they ended up occupying themselves with each other. Eurgh, now I have to get that thought out of my head.
Option two – kidnap them and take them to a secret location and make them so scared that they turn to each other for safety. I crossed out that option as well as kidnapping is illegal and I don’t fancy getting arrested.
I noticed when I was attempting to think of an option three that my green tea had been placed in front of me. I turned to the counter and said “thanks!” to the owner who smiled in response.
Picking up my cup and taking a sip of the wonderfully hot liquid I began to ponder some more. I decided to text Rika asking me to meet me here as she had Yasuda-sensei, who didn’t mind what Rika did as she was her most trustworthy student.
Just as I’d sent her a message saying what are you doing atm? My phone started ringing, and it was an unknown number. Curiosity got the better of me as I answered.
“Hello?”
"You'd better get to the hospital. There’s been an accident and you’d better get here, and fast.”

Chapter 3; Ishikawa Rika's POV

“You really think we didn’t know that?” said Aibon.
Huh??? They knew?!
“What do you mean?” Yossie and I said. If I’d had my eyes closed, I’d have said we were Nono and Aibon!
Nono opened her mouth to talk. “You both separately confessed to us. It was only a matter of time before it happened, and we were both expecting it.”
So Yossie told them she liked me too? I couldn’t help but feel ridiculously happy about that… but… “You mean I was so nervous for nothing? Damn!”
I internally sulked. Couldn’t Yossie have told me she’d already confessed to the two top?!
“We’ve got 5 minutes until we have to go back in. We either walk now or run when the bell goes.” Said Yossie. “I’m voting walk now.” I followed Yossie as she headed towards school.
“I’ve got a free period now so I’m going for a wander.” She smiled at me. I’ll see you later. Bye!” waving, I tried to remember my next lesson. Oh, yeah, Biology with Yasuda-sensei. Shouldn’t be too bad; I am, after all, her best student.
My stomach grumbled as I walked to my next class; only an hour until lunch I thought cheerfully to myself. I settled into my seat at the back of the class, and had completed the hour’s work in about 10 minutes. I started to doodle on the back of the worksheet. Beep! I took out my phone and saw I had a message from Yossie.
What are you doing atm?
I texted back quickly.
Nothing, done all my work, dead bored. Want me to see if I could come and meet you?
I waited.. and nothing. Five minutes, ten minutes… half an hour… eventually the bell for the end of the lesson rang. I was miffed; what could possibly be more important to her than me?! I made my way to the lunchroom. My stomach dropped. Yossie was nowhere to be seen.

Thanks a lot both of you
We're currently working on Chapter 4. We don't know how long we're going to carry the fic on for but since we've got a lot of free time (summer holidays ftw!) we're hoping it'll be pretty long.

--------

Chapter 4; Tsuji Nozomi's POV
After a lesson of Ai-chan and Makocchan giving each other looks of adoration the last thing I needed was to see Rika and Yossie doing the same thing. I walked along to the cafeteria slowly, hoping that if I delayed it long enough they’d be over and done with already but to my surprise Yossie wasn’t there – and she’s always the first one there.
“Where’s Yossie?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” said Rika, her lip wobbling. “She went out on her free period and she isn’t back yet.
“Hmm…” I said, as I attempted to look thoughtful.
I sat down and took my bento box out of my bag, as Rika went to get some food and Aibon said she was going outside for some air. I kept myself occupied by keeping my eyes on my food and concentrated on getting food in my mouth so I didn’t have to speak to Rika about where Yossie was. I know it sounds harsh but I didn’t want to talk to her, as I knew she’d become even more worried.
“Have you tried phoning her?”
“Nono swallow your food when you speak. And yes, I have, but I haven’t had any answer. It’s just gone straight to voicemail.”
“Hmm…” I went back to my food but noticed I’d already finished.
“Do you want to go outside to eat your food? We can try ringing her some more if we’re outside, the teacher’s won’t notice.”
“Please, the atmosphere might take my mind off this a bit.” We linked arms as we went outside to the cherryblossom tree, where we surprisingly didn’t pass Aibon on our way. We sat down when we got there, leaving the trunk available for when Yossie came back – she always sits there, with me on her left and Rika on her right. Aibon always sat opposite her. It’s just become a tradition for us.
I glanced up at Rika who was rapidly pressing buttons on her phone then putting it to her ear and getting frustrated when it went to voicemail, only to repeat the event again and again.
Rika suddenly couldn’t suppress her tears and they all flooded out as she leant over and fell onto my lap, as I kept stroking her hair since I knew what she was thinking and I didn’t want to make matters worse.
What if something had happened to Yossie?

Chapter 4; Kago Ai's POV

Finally, it was lunch. When I got to the cafeteria, I saw Rika standing alone, looking worried.
“Yossie isn’t here. She went off on her free period. She wanted to know what I was doing, she never texted me back! Why isn’t she back yet?” she burbled. She looked close to tears. “You don’t think something’s happened to her?”
“No, I don’t think so. We both know Yossie’s too tough for anything bad to have happened to her. Her battery might have died, she’s probably just held up,” I reassured her. “We’ll try ringing her if she isn’t here by the end of lunch, okay?” I gave her a hug.
“Where’s Yossie?” said Nono, as she arrived.
“I don’t know,” said Rika, her lip wobbling. “She went out on her free period and she isn’t back yet.
“Hmm…” Nono looked thoughtful.
“She probably just lost track of time, that’s all.” I tried to assure them both. I hoped they couldn’t tell I was worried too. “Let’s get some food.” Rika looked at me with large eyes. “We’ll pick some stuff up for Yossie too.”
It was pretty stressful having to be the responsible one; that was usually Yossie’s job. I’d expect Rika or Nono to take over otherwise, but Rika was somewhat a gibbering wreck and Nono’s mind seemed elsewhere.
“I’m going outside for some air,” I told them. Nono didn’t seem to notice, but Rika looked at me suspiciously. I skidaddled.
“You again?” said Ichigo, as I approached their meeting place.
“Yep. Me again. Look, I need another cig. Just the one.”
Another of the girls snorted. “That’s what they all say at first, right Akane?”
“Sure,” said the tall one as she took another drag. “Then they come back for another… And another.”
I frowned. “It’s not like that.”
“Sure it’s not,” said the other girl, rolling her eyes.
“Leave her alone, Yumi.” commanded Ichigo. “Here,” she handed me a cigarette.
“Thanks.” This time I didn’t choke, but my eyes still watered. I hope I looked elegant, like women in movies, as I blew out a cloud of smoke. Once I’d finished, I got up, but then I hesitated. “Can I take another? For later? And I swear this will be the last.”
They laughed, but the girl called Akane gave me three cigs. “We’ll see you tomorrow,” she said with certainty. I hoped she wasn’t right.
I hid the cigarettes in the bottom of my bag and went to look for the others. There was only one place they could be. I saw two silhouettes under the cherry blossom tree.
So Yossie still wasn’t back. I felt something gnawing in the pit of my stomach. Worry, or guilt? Maybe both.

Chapter 4; Yoshizawa Hitomi's POV
I flipped open my phone and rung a taxi, knowing if I ran it’d take me an hour and a taxi would get me there so much quicker. I was mentally being grateful to my mum for thrusting some money in my hand this morning as now I wouldn’t have to bother with the bus either. I waited for five minutes and saw the taxi pull up in front of the café and put some money on the table. I knew it was too much but I didn’t care, I was in too much of a rush.
I ran outside, said where I needed to go and told the driver to step on it and he set off. I contemplated texting Rika to tell her what was going on but I was in too scared and worried to bother… I hoped she’d understand later. Remembering that hospitals have a policy where you have to keep your mobile phone off since it’d interfere with equipment I turned it off as I knew I’d forget later.
I found myself subconsciously tapping my foot out of impatience, and the driver noticed. I made an apologetic expression and he seemed to understand as he started driving faster, and we reached the hospital in a stupidly quick time.
“Thank you so much. Here you go, and keep the change. I owe you one.”
He smiled at me and waved as I rushed inside to reception.
“The name’s Yoshizawa Hitomi, I just got a phone call telling me to come here.”
“We’ve been expecting you. Just wait a moment and one of the nurses will escort you to the room.”
I wanted to scream! I don’t have a moment, I need to know what the hell’s going on!
“Hitomi-chan?”
I winced, knowing that it was my parents. I hated being called Hitomi, but I suppose you can’t tell your parents to call you Yossie.
“What’s going on?”
“It’s your brother… there’s been an accident…” My mum couldn’t continue before she burst into tears.
“What? What’s happened to him? What’s happened to Kōta?”
“You’d better see for yourself Hitomi-chan.” I winced again. “We’ll explain when we get there.”
My parents knew how desperate I was to find out what was going on and thankfully they ran and I ran after them, until we reached a room with the blinds shut. I opened it and saw him there, connected up to a life support machine. I felt my eyes welling up as I saw him lying there.
“What happened, dad?” I asked him, knowing full well my mum wasn’t in a state to explain.
“There was a car accident… He was on his way to school and a car knocked him over. We were called here not long after it happened, one of his friend’s called an ambulance and checked him in.” I turned to see a boy the same age as Kōta sat there and muttered “thank you” to him and he nodded and left, presumably going to school to explain to the teachers where he’d been.
“What else?” I asked, not wanting to know but wanting to at the same time.
“I don’t know how else to tell you this so I’m going to come straight out with it. Kōta’s braindead, and he can’t live without the life support machine. The doctors are going to turn it off as there’s nothing they can do for him.”
“What?! There has to be something!” I let the tears stream down my face, something that rarely happens.
“There isn’t Hitomi-chan… we wanted you to be here when it happened. We know how close you two are, and we didn’t think it was fair not letting you know.”
The doctor walked in at that moment and turned to face us.
“I’m sorry that there’s nothing we can do… just once somebody’s braindead it’s either leave them on a life support machine and see the family struggle or turn it off and allow the family to grieve. It’s hard for me to do this and I’m sure it’s even harder you.” The doctor was very sympathetic as he turned the machine off, and the sound of Kōta’s heart was silent.
I fell to the floor, my tears spilling all over.
He’s gone.

Chapter 4;Ishikawa Rika's POV

She was always here first.
I waited. And I waited. I tried ringing her… No answer. I tried ringing again… voicemail.
My annoyance turned to loneliness which then turned to fear.
Aibon approached looking confused.
“Yossie isn’t here. She went off on her free period.” I explained. “She wanted to know what I was doing, she never texted me back! Why isn’t she back yet? You don’t think something’s happened to her?”
“No,” she said, and I was surprised by how assured she sounded. “I don’t think so. We both know Yossie’s too tough for anything bad to have happened to her.” True… “Her battery might have died, she’s probably just held up,” It’s plausible… “We’ll try ringing her if she isn’t here by the end of lunch, okay?” She hugged me, but I was still worried.
Nono appeared. “Where’s Yossie?” she asked.
“I don’t know. She went out on her free period and she isn’t back yet.”
“Hmm…” She replied, helpfully.
I went into a kind of daze. I couldn’t remember the last time Yossie hadn’t been at lunch with us. It was weirdly quiet without her.
“I’m going outside for some air,” said Aibon, looking shifty. Oh great, another thing to worry about. If there was one thing I was certain of, it was that the air Aibon was going to get was about as fresh as car exhaust fumes. Again, I knew I had to talk to her about this, but later, and in private.
I could tell Nono was uncomfortable, and didn’t want to say anything to upset me. I thought about bringing up Aibon’s mysterious disappearance, but I though better of it. Perhaps it was best for her to be oblivious to her best friend’s new habit.
“Have you tried phoning her?” she asked, her mouth full of onigiri.
“Nono swallow your food when you speak.” I reprimanded her. “And yes, I have, but I haven’t had any answer. It’s just gone straight to voicemail.”
She suggested I take my lunch outside. I agreed, perhaps being outside under the cherry blossom tree would be calming.
I was wrong.
There was a huge gaping hole where Yossie should be. I took out my phone and dialled Yossie’s number carefully, in case I’d somehow saved it into my phone wrong, despite reason telling me we’d been able to phone each other for ages without any problems. It rung for a while, then “Hi, this is Yossie!” My heart leapt at the sound of her voice. “I’m away from my phone right now, so please leave a message!”
I repeated the process getting more and more frustrated. I came up with two solutions. The first – it was perfectly innocent. Yossie’s battery had gone flat, and she’s been held up in some mundane normal boring thing. This was the one I hoped was true,
The second? Yossie was grievously injured somehow and COULDN’T answer her phone.
A third solution occurred to me, and it was almost as painful to think about as the second. Yossie was with another girl. I almost immediately dismissed this, but it didn’t stop the tears pouring from my eyes. Nono held me as I sobbed and I could help thinking it should be Yossie instead.
Of course, if she were here, there’d be no reason to cry.
