Have you ever fallen in love?



I looked up towards my teacher, “What hell kind of question are you asking me?” I growled at the elderly man who stood calmly in front of the classroom. My new classmates looked at me, at the teacher, than me again. “Well you see Reina, these were the questions the students want to know…you said you would answer them.” I heard somebody smack their gum, “Yea…all off them.” I turned my head to see a girl chewing gum. ”Come on Reina, answer the question.” She pronounced my name as if my name was scum. I heard my name be called like that thousands of times before.

She snapped her gum again which made me flinch slightly. Annoying…

“Sayumi…be nice” A friend of hers warned. To bad she decided not to follow her friend's advice. I could feel her staring at me, waiting for me to do something, say something. “Reina…do you even believe in love?” I remained quiet. “Come on talk yah idiot!”

I snapped.
"Call me an idiot again and watch where I’ll shove that gum-” I quickly stood up; my chair slammed into the desk behind me. “Fight!” A boy yelled excitedly. Sayumi stood up, but she hesitated slightly. Did she really want to fight? Her pigtails bounced slightly as she stood. First day in school and i’m already about to get into a fight?

“Not again Reina! Please dont!" I could hear my mother yelling at me. I didn’t care – nobody disrespects me. Before I could take two steps toward her, a girl quickly stepped in between us. “Sayumi, sit.” Sayumi quickly sat down back into her chair. What the...

"You- Reina, sit.” My eye’s turned slit as I stared at her. Unblinking, beautiful dark hazel eyes stared right at me back. "Be civilized" I sighed as I sat back down in my chair. Civilized? Please, that’s something Sayumi really needs to learn.

I looked at the teacher who was smiling and rubbing his gray mustache. He didn’t care about what just happened? No sending me to the principle’s office? No...punishment? I felt movement behind me and as I looked back I seen…her. The girl who had stopped me from fighting Un-Civilized girl...sits behind me?

“Kame.” Turtle!? “Kamei”-oh- “Eri” Nice to meet you Miss Tanaka Reina” I forgot what I did next, and the rest of that day…but I remembered my answer to the teacher’s question.



Have you ever fallen in love? A small smile grazed my face as I looked back up to the board.



Yea, I just did.
