She's Mine...Right?

Chapter 1

It was just another day of dance rehearsal. The Hello! Project 2009 Concert was coming up soon and so all the girls were practicing diligently.

“Ok girls, good work, take an hour break.” And with that the dance instructor left through the doors leaving the girls to go on about their business. The girls split up into the usual groups. The older members all went out for lunch while the kids stayed around to catch up on a little sleeping.

“Gaki-san, come get some lunch with us!” Eri said as she latched herself onto to Risa’s arm with Reina and Sayumi not so far behind. Risa desperately tried to dislodge the arm that was cutting off her circulation to reach her gym bag.

“Hold on, lemme go ask Ai-chan if she wants to join us.” Risa put away her water bottle in her bag and walked over to Ai who was still stretching.

“Ai-chan, we’re going out to eat, care to join?” Risa asked her fellow gokkie member. Ai looked up from her stretches giving a quick glance at the group that has gathered in front of her before giving an answer.

“No, I think I’m going to practice some more.”

Risa quirked her eyebrow, “Uso! We just danced for three hours!” Ai continued her stretching.

“Come on Ai-chan, don’t be a party pooper.” Sayumi was doing one of her famous pouts, sadly it had no effect.

“Sorry, I just think I need more practice.” Risa shook her head. She knew that was a lie, Ai was one of the best dancers in the whole company.

“I know as well as you do that you need a well deserved break. I’m so tired; I don’t think I’m going to be able to feed myself today!” Risa threw her hands up to her head in a dramatic fashion. Eri who was behind Risa jump onto her back from behind with a huge grin on her face.

“Don’t worry Gaki-san, I’ll feed you!” She held an imaginary fork in front of Risa’s face giggling as Risa, Reina, and Sayumi joined in the laughter.

Ai suddenly stopped her stretching; her eye began to twitch as she watched Eri pretending to feed Risa. Reina kept urging Ai. A still laughing Risa gently grabbed Ai by the arm pulling, “Come on!”

In an odd change of mood, Ai said sternly, “I don’t want to go!”

The laughing ceased, that was all the four needed to hear to understand it meant “Leave me alone”. Risa smile instantly deflated, and let go of her arm, Is something bothering her? The atmosphere turned a little awkward as no one moved for what seemed like an eternity. Reina was the first to speak up breaking the silence.

“Ok then…I guess we should leave.” Reina motioned for the other three to follow her. Risa glanced back to Ai to see that she had already started to resume her stretching. Risa debated whether or not to stay and console her friend. Obviously something was bothering her, but Ai had made it very clear that she would rather be left alone at the moment. She heard Eri call to her; she let out a defeated sigh and followed the others out the doors.

Pausing for a brief moment, Ai turned around and stared at her best friend’s retreating back. Eri’s arm once again found its way around Risa’s as they stepped through the door. Even after they left, Ai found herself staring at the closed doors as something within her began to ache. What’s going on with me…I don’t even know why I yelled at Gaki-san…

Just then a pair of arms snaked around her small waist, abruptly pulling her away from her thoughts. Ai gasped, and a familiar voice purred into her ear, “Hey Ai-chan…”

Risa, Eri, Reina, and Sayu arrived at a small café just outside the studio, sitting at a table by the window. Laughter and nonsense talking could be heard, with the occasional “Uso!” from none other than the famous reaction queen. A couple of minutes passed, and Risa slowly dissipated from the conversation, staring outside the window, finding it that it helped Risa clear up her mind a bit; until she was interrupted by a nudge from Eri.

“Right Gaki-san?” Risa broke her gaze from the window to the smiling girl sitting beside her. Judging from the blank look she was receiving, Eri could tell that Risa hadn’t heard a single word they have said, “I said, ‘Right Sayu is a bigger aho than me’.”

The bunny loving girl crossed her arms, “That was one time! How am I supposed to know that reindeers actually existed?” Reina couldn’t help but choke a little on her tea, trying to contain her laughter.

“Sayu, if you would take the time to pay attention, you would find that there are other animals out there besides bunnies.” Reina gave her a mocking pat on the back. Sayumi brushed Reina’s hand off and pointed at her accusingly.

“At least I know how to type on the computer. You didn’t even know how to do the question mark!” Eri clapped her hands loudly, as she remembered when Reina was tested how fast she could type on an episode of Haromoni. Reina nearly spit out her drink.

Though coughing she rebutted, “Hey! That was…*cough*…completely different. I was just under a lot of pressure that day.”

“Sure you were...hehe.” Eri reached across and poked a very flushed Reina in the cheek.

Risa observed the scene quietly; she couldn’t help but laugh at the shenanigans her younger members would bring up. Chuckling a little, Risa looked down at her tea that she had unconsciously been stirring for the past ten minutes. She loved hanging out with the Rokkies, they were never a disappointment when it came to fun. However she just wished that she could see a certain someone more often, but lately she had been seeing less of her, even less than before when she became leader. She wanted so much to be with her, but every time she tried, it ended in failure. Risa was about to lose herself to her thoughts, when said person was mentioned.

“Man, what was wrong with Ai-chan back there.” Reina simply stated.

“I don’t know, maybe she actually needed practice.” Sayumi nonchalantly sipped her tea. Eri shook her head, “But it’s not like she needed it.”

Reina shrugged, “Maybe it’s that time of the month. That would explain her pissy mood.” Risa spoke up for the first time.

“Come on guys, she’s probably under a lot of stress, give her a break.”

“It’s not like we don’t have stress, but we don’t have our underwear in a bunch.” Reina rolled her eyes. Eri added, “Yeah, and she didn’t have to yell at us.” Sayumi nodded, and was about to speak until Risa slammed her hand on the table (not loudly, and hard enough to get the other three’s attention).

“You guys should be a little bit more considerate, she’s busier than all of us. She’s leader of a nine member group, she’s having to help Linlin and Junjun with the dancing, while trying to keep all of us in check. Not only that she has her drama to worry about and adding a million more things to her already busy schedule. I would think that her own members would understand that most of all.” She eyed each of them, making sure they got her point.

Eri placed her hand on Risa’s arm, “You’re right, we’re sorry.” Risa let out a breath she didn’t even know she was holding. “Yeah, I’m sorry too, I didn’t mean to explode like that. Look I’ll be right back, I need to go to the restroom.” And she got up and left, leaving three members to talk amongst themselves. Sayumi was the first.

“Ay, I kind of feel bad now for being irritated with Ai.”

“Yeah, me too, but Risa is acting strange also.” Eri looked back to where Risa left. Reina shook her head, was she really the only one who knew what as going on between the two. “It’s pretty obvious you guys…” Eri and Sayumi turned their attention to the yankii. “They are in love with each other.”

UUSSSSOO!!!!” Reina hit both on the head. “OH MY GOD! Shut up!” Eri rubbed her head, “Reina how can you be so sure?”

“It’s obvious! Have you ever seen the way they look at each other, and act around each other?” Sayumi pondered a bit, “I guess you’re right…but what do you suppose we do?”

“If you’re right, I think we should just let them go at it at their own pace.” Reina shot down the idea right away, “Dear God, Eri do you know how long that’s going to take?” Eri “ahh-ed” in agreement.

“If only there was some way to get them to notice each other’s feelings…” Eri twiddled her thumbs. Looking up at Eri, Reina suddenly perked up, Ahhh! Why didn’t I think of this before! This is bound to work!

Pulling the other two in, Reina whispered her idea before Risa came back, “This is what we’re gonna do…”
