I didnt say I don't like the Berryz, and Im not trying to bash them. In fact I like them very much with theire catchy tunes and funny dances.
I'm just saying that if you are looking for vocal quality, the idols are not the way to go.
But I have enough time on this forum that I know critizism isn't really accepted in any form

And they are becoming better now. You could see the improvement in Medachitaii. They dance nicely and their vocal didn't broken like always. It proves that they are becoming better. Me too like their young moment like Marugoto but that was then, their voice haven't developed yet.

Ok not starting any discussion now, but they really can't sing. None of them would have any chance as an RnB singer or any solo career at all. Especially their front member Risako sound like any average karaoke-voice. They are mere idols, they just sing because they have to do something other than just be taken pictures of

Sitting here listening to the very first berryz... Can't believe thats so many years ago now. I wish I could go back to that time again... They were so much better than they are now.

You are absolutely right that chart positions don't necessarily reflect on sales these days (and even less on quality).
When I said that AKB48 were better, I meant in giving the public want, if you know what I mean. I understand of course that people have different opinions. I'm sorry for my ignorance and lack of knowledge. I'll do better research next time!
