Who's watched Haibane Renmei and how did you like it? It's definitely one of my favorite animes. It has an intellectual story and leaves room for personal interpretation as well. It's not a fast paced in your face kind of anime, but concentrates more on the characters and the overall mood of the story, which is something I really appreciate.
For those who have watched the anime, have you read Haruki Murakami's novel "Hard-boiled wonderland and the end of the world"? The series is heavily inspired by this novel, and reading it will give you a lot more understanding about the anime as well. I just started watching the anime again now that I've read the novel, and it's very rewarding. I keep noticing many things that I didn't really pay attention to the first time I watched it.
