I think this is your imagination, not some meaningful assessment of their business acumen.

And you are free to think that.

They are conservative, so conservative they kept Morning Musume, ℃-ute, and Berryz, and even S/Mileage (as bad as that management work WAS, it kept them employed, and bought them the time to get to the questionable (vs definitely lost) position they're in now) afloat in a desert of idol death. They were late to the Internet 2.0 and late to "close contact sells an idol."

Which nobody here has disputed.

But my feeling is this is a result of the absolute hell they pulled the name, the 4 groups, the producer through, not because they're dumb, or obstinate, or useless.

Feelings can be deceiving.

It's not that they were always right, but rather they were right enough. And yes, this was conservative decision making.

Which nobody here has disputed.

But that fits perfectly with "the money isn't there, nobody goes" vs your assertion "we don't care if the money is there, nobody goes."

Again, they would never even entertain the thought of a self-financed overseas concert to begin with, it goes against their very nature. The question, if there is any money there, does not even come into play at this point.
