How old are some forum members/AKB48 fans?

I am 28.

How did you start listening to AKB48?

I started studying Japanese several years ago, and started following Momusu. I somehow ended up at H!O during that time, but it was like six months before I even started my account. Anyways, I was subscribed to a bunch of channels on YouTube that posted Utaban and specials with Morning Musume. One day, one of my subscriptions posted Namida Surprise, and I absolutely loved it, but I didn't put too much effort into finding out more about them. A couple months after that, the channel with Namida Surprise was deleted for the whole copyright infringement thing, so I went looking to find some more of their music. I didn't really fall for AKB until I saw Sakura no Shiori and Ponytail.

My first CD purchase for AKB was Kamikyoukutachi, from iTunes.

On a side note, the first girl I really noticed was one of the girls guiding Acchan towards the stairs during the first verse of Namida Surprise. What got my attention about this girl was her hair, she simply had amazing hair. Sometime later, I stumbled into the member's forum for AKB on this site. As I started trying to learn the members the caption for Miyazawa Sae was "Genking, the owner of awesome hair". My first thought was of that girl in Namida Surprise and after clicking on the link I was instantly gratified to discover that I was right. Plus, Sae's hair is amazing enough to warrant a mention in her description. While Sae isn't my oshimen, she is still one of my favorites since she is one of the first girls I really remembered.

How long do you think you'll continue to follow the band?

What impresses me the most about AKB is how each member has to work to make fans, there's not much room for ego in there line of work. I've become so sick of American celebrity culture, and find AKB to be a refreshing change of pace. The members seem to have genuine humility as their rise and fall depends entirely on support from fans. AKB constantly manages to pleasantly surprise with the various things they do. My Japanese comprehension is still relatively low, but they are relatively easy to understand and there's no shortage of material about and from them. Because of AKB, I joined the ranks of fansubbers and am currently working as an editor/QA for subs over on the Sub48 forum. I will support AKB as long as they fundamentally keep the mindset of "Idols you can meet."

Do you like other Jpop bands/artists?

I still listen to Morning Musume. whenever they release something new, but personally I've found all their releases over the last year to be irritating. Berryz and C-ute are both decent. I listen to a lot of different Jpop but only a few artists regularly. The artists I actively follow, in no particular order, are... Ueto Aya, "Ai no Tame ni" is one of my favorite Jpop songs to date, and "Attention Please" is one of the absolute best J-dramas I've ever seen. Hideaki Tokunaga, I discovered him because of AKB, Tomomi Itano sang a duet with him on some show. "Yume wo Shinjite" is probably my favorite song from him. Ikimono Gakkari is another band I follow, found out about them thanks to Naruto. I like some of Ken Hirai, Spitz, May J, and a few others.

i am 23

How did you start listening to AKB48?

watching morning musume videos on youtube in 2006 and randomly clicked on aitakatta. i was like wow... a chorus type group... these girls will never make it big... but damn this song is catchy as hell. i saw aware of them in their early years and i enjoyed their music but i didnt follow them until after they exploded into the phenomenon that we see today. by this time i had already known most of the popular girls names just because i was into the whole idol scene. originally back when i first saw them in 2006 i didnt think it was possible to learn all their names or recognize their faces but im getting there. truth is it was easy to shift some of my attention to akb after h!p got boring. long explanation on how i started but hey its late and i dont really know what im doing.

How long do you think you'll continue to follow the band?

until they start to bore me and even then i will be too attached to them just like i am with h!p to fully abandon them.

Do you like other Jpop bands/artists?

yes i am an idolholic which means that i follow the idol scene as much as i can. i also like any musician who has talent or sounds nice.

How old are some forum members/AKB48 fans?

16 years old.

How did you start listening to AKB48?

I knew of them for several years, but didn't really listen to their music since I thought the concept of the group was dumb. I tried watching Majisuka Gakuen, but didn't really like it very much. Then one day on 4chan, I was introduced to Majisuka Gakuen season 2, so I watched that. Then season 1. And the rest of their dramas, music, and shows followed after that.

How long do you think you'll continue to follow the band?

I think I will continue following AKB48 for at least a few more years. Aki-P is rather good at that after all. There will always be some event about 5 months away that will keep you passively interested in the group. As long as I have more blog entries to read and more variety shows to watch, I think I will continue to actively follow AKB48 though. Hopefully it doesn't hit the point where AKB48 merely gets an eyebrow raise as I glance over it on Tokyohive.

Do you like other Jpop bands/artists?

There are a lot of other Jpop bands/artists that I like, but none that I listen to as much as AKB48. With new releases from those other groups, I'll listen to their single/watch the PV, but that's about it. This applies to Kpop as well.

How old are some forum members/AKB48 fans?.

I'm 22 (was 20 when i started Following them)

How did you start listening to AKB48?

this is actually two parts

1. a friend that creeped me out with the original Beginner PV and as trying to get me to listen to the group

2. I saw a video before the graduation of Junjun, Linlin, and Kamei Eri from Morning Musume where takamina was a guest host. (she was so awesome, and her additude and silliness got me really wanting to see what AKB48 was all about)

How long do you think you'll continue to follow the band?

Don't know, as long as i can! Even when, eventually all my fav members graduate, i want to support their further careers and follow the group as well.

Do you like other Jpop bands/artists?

Yes, I love Hello Project, and i still love the group BeForU (finally got into the 3rd gen stuff before the group ended in 2008). I try to follow other groups, but sometimes, with soooo many i get confused.

How old are some forum members/AKB48 fans?
I am 37 :P ..

How did you start listening to AKB48?
There was actually 3 phase ..

1st in 2007 .. I saw Aitakatta PV ..found them really nice ..
but there was just too many members ..couldn't figure who is that girl I like ..
I did buy Set List: Greatest Songs 2006–2007 .. found the songs extremely nice ..
but no lead idol .. I decide concentrate on another idol group C-ute whom I saw at the same time cos I can identify the one I like ..

2nd in 2009 .. saw Baby! Baby! Baby! pretty disgusted with the PV especially that girl at the start ..give me the creeps ..
anyway .. I was going full throttle on H!P .. so I lose interest and start seeing them enemy ..

3rd in 2010 when they came Singapore .. saw Aamin and the rest is history ..

ps. turn out the girl I couldn't figure in 2007 is Acchan the same girl I didn't like in 2009..
anyway from 2007 to even until now .. Sakura no Hanabiratachi is one of my fav song ..even when I hate them..

How long do you think you'll continue to follow the band?

I think there is only 2 ways for it to end ..

1) Aamin graduate ..but in any case ..I may lose interest in idols altogether when that happens..

or

2) In 3 years time?
because .. I switch to AKB48 main after 3 years of H!P ..
now after 3 years of AKB48 and 6 years of H!P .. I decide to drop H!P ..
and Idol Street is technically my main now as AKB48 move a step back ..
So base on that .. in 3 years time ..when I move to another main and Idol Street take a step back .. I guess ..

Do you like other Jpop bands/artists?
Idol Street, Up Up girls, Dancing dolls, TGS .. recently Tsuribit ..
I am now very willing to listen to any idol as long as the song is nice and they don't sell weird gimmicky ideas ...

I'm 16, but I got into AKB when I was 13  ^_^

How did you start listening to AKB48?
My sister downloaded Sakura no Hanabiratachi and Iiwake Maybe onto my iPod by accident and I ended up falling in love with both songs, I searched up a few other songs from them and slowly started to watch their music video's and variety shows. I couldn't keep my eyes off Acchan, so she's been my oshi ever since (even after graduation)  ^^;

How long do you think you'll continue to follow the band?
Probably until I get bored of what they come out with and all my favorite members leave and there is no one new that I like who could be my new favorite member

Do you like other Jpop bands/artists?
Morning Musume, AAA, NMB48 (I guess that goes with AKB48 though), S/mileage, EXILE, Kis-My-Ft2, Flower and Supercell  :good:

How did you start listening to AKB48? I was already following H!P since one year, but really only them. Then I saw a PV made by a cover group of Sakura Chirari. Next to it was their PV cover of AKB's Bingo. Because I loved the melody of the chorus, I searched for what it was. But it took me some two more years to really get into AKB. Recently, I have mostly stopped following H!P and just keep on loving the 48 groups(what an ungrateful child, I know...).
How long do you think you'll continue to follow the band?
Probably sort of "forever". Even during some periods when I don't want to hear anything about Idols anymore, I can't help but keep on checking what's going on for them... There is always something happening, so it keeps the interest there... And I just keep on falling in love with them over and over ♥.
Do you like other Jpop bands/artists? I don't really care. Following all the girls from all the 48 groups, listening all the songs and watching all the concerts already ask quite a lot of time (and is emotionally consuming, somehow cx). I have tried some other Idols groups' PV, to check if I wasn't missing anything, but nothing pleased me. Even HaroPuro seems tasteless to me now, next to the delight 48 groups are to me...

I am a huge fan of Kalafina also, but they are not Idols, and the way I love them is so different from the way I like 48 girls. There is no "fangirlism" thing going on, so I can't compare. (Oh, and I love listening to Enka songs and Shôwa Idols' music, but it is just a matter of listening to the music, not caring about the groups, person or whatever).

Idols are keeping me young since 2006.

CURRENTLY COLOR-CODING JAPANESE IDOL SONGS

Whenever I see a live in YouTube or other streaming sites, I watch carefully then color code.

How long do you think you'll continue to follow the band?
 - Long as I love their music.. Of course the biggest impact (and afraid) towards them has gone from me after Yuko graduate.. But I have still lot of members I like and their music is good. As long as I love their music.

Do you like other Jpop bands/artists?
 - I mostly listen Japanese music so.. Arashi, Kanjani8, AAA, Nishino Kana, Sekai no Owari, Ikimonogakari etc.
