I stand by my comments. I have no sympathy for the guy and his creation.
The yearly girl ranking alone is demeaning. But if it wasn't enough, Akimoto has found a way to milk more cash with a website where fans can post their own pic and see how a baby with their fav member would look like. Beyond gross.
There are stories of fathers who emptied their own kids bank account (savings for college) in order to buy hundreds of CD's and AKB related goods, so they could have more votes in the next election. And some members' dads as well have been known to ask their daughters to take pictures of other members, because they find them cute. Gross, gross, gross!!!
Not that HP is all rosy, but I've never heard similar horror stories in Tsunkuland. |

^While i'm not a big fan of AKB48, I don't see how you can blame them for what a grown man chooses to do with his own money. Unless they're giving crack out with CD purchases, AKB48 isn't to blame for that. If they can inspire the kind of devotion to do that, them more power to them.
My problems with AKB48 have to do with the fact that most of the time they don't sing their songs live, even though there are so many of them. Also I don't really like the majority of their songs, and while H!P songs grow on me from watching concerts, i can't watch AKB48 concerts cause its mostly lypsyncing.
But i do like quite a few of the girls in AKB48 very much and do watch their TV shows on occasion |

Lipsyncing is a big wall but once you have climbed over it there's a paradise on the other side. :D
Btw I personally think that the ratio between good/not that good songs is better in AKB48 than H!P. |

Lipsinging is a given, and you can easily know when they are live because their voices falter a tiny bit ¬¬'... they DO sing live and recently more often than before AKB48 Kouhaku is a recent example, which is great, BUT and that's a big but... Most of the girls, even the not so popular, spent most of the time from photo session to photo session, that's why we see them in every magazine we can think of week after week after week after week... SO... they don't have much time to practice, REHEARSE, which is why they sometime lipsing and many times mess up the dance routines...lack of PRACTICE... AND that's not the girls fault, their management prioritize and schedule session which are more profitable or convenient, maybe not money wise but for presence, that's why we get even AKB48 ramen cups, they are all over the place, even in the soup!!!
That's about the only thing I didn't like about 48ers before too, their poor onstage performance, before I realized this... they lack rehearsal time, and that is a big handycap and still... they do great!!!!
You can also hear about it in one of the making of DVDs from the Yoyogi performance I think... a girl says, Takamina perhaps, don't remember, that she's worried because they've been to so many events that they've had little time to rehearse.
As stany puts it very very very well, that is a big wall but once you get through it there is only haven waiting, just take a look at Ranran if that beutiful being can't convince you to turn to the fortyeight side nothing will!! XD |
