i wouldn't call it being expresionless, i think she acted wonderfully. not only for her age, but generally.

LOL really? IMO Sakitan was the best actress there.
Like, in the first parts, pissed, sad, worried, relieved and concerned Mao had the same face. Geez, even her smile looked the same XD She looked tense/nervous all the time. Understanble, Momoko was a newcomer very young idol and making a movie was something really new to a kid who was a random girl a second ago.
And it's not just Momo, even the badass gang (Maimi, Miyabi & co) was so damn expresionless XD

that's true in a way, but if you think about mao's character i think momo handled it pretty well. we can never know was it just her being expressionless or part of the character, but it's my favorite h!p movie by far. hotaru no hoshi is great too, and it's maybe a bit more touching, but koinu dan.. gee, i love it. :--D how do you NOT adore a movie that has the tiny captain shoplifting and hugging a blind dog? and the all boy looking chisato answering the phone with "moshi moshi, ah, mama!"? AND the ever adorable momoko yelling at maimi & badasses? yeah, exactly, there's no way to do it.

the story was quite meh but Sakitan was just freaking adorable and I loved the badass gang and all the kids even with their monotone acting XDDD
Also it was the only time Maimi was a villain/bad/whatever mean, such a pearl XD
