^ Well, the fact that idols have eternal youth is obvious, but what surprises me is that Ai-chan was created/built/whatever long before Japanese idolhood as we know it existed. =P

@Oikaze, she was built many years ago, but the villagers feared her perfection, so she was dismantled and "imperfect" idols were created in her place.
But then, on a stormy but mystical night in 1996, a passing Tsunku found her and upon rebuilding her ("We can rebuild her!") realised that the world was still not quite ready for such perfect Loveliness.
So he set about building a society that could accept her without fear, and he created a nurturing environment that would help develop her social awkwardness, and the obvious speech defect she suffered from.
He created Morning Musume.
Into this environment he placed the Ai-Chan 1000 ™.
The year was 2001.
And this is her story.

Ai-chan is just Loveliness personified.
