Did Risako have some kind of plastic surgery, or did she just get older and look drastically different? Because she is completely adorable here, and she's got CHARACTER in her smile. But now she feels more fake, to me. :/
Sorry for bumping this super-old picture, but (1), it's cute, and (2), I want an answer.

She got her teeth fixed, right? Aside from that, she's just gained weight and grown up.

Ah, okay. *o*;; I guess it's just the cute, young, goofiness of this picture that's thrown me off. xD; I'm now used to seeing "mature, try-to-be-sexy-even-though-you're-14" Risako. *o*;;

As I read sometime ago from another Risako discussion in the picboard, straightened teeth are much healthier for you in the long run. Sure it gives you a small edge in you character, but it's just gonna give problems later in life.
There was even a fan mentioning in one of Tsuji's Q&A entries about her fangs when she first joined and what happened to them. She said that she still has her fangs, but I believe she said that she got the straightened and dulled down a bit.
Anyway, I think it's both a personal choice and also influenced by the agency. A prettier face/smile is sold much better as a whole. To the fans, this smile is more wanted, but at the general public/potential new fans, her current smile is much more appealing.
Also people won't mind to have a nicer smile <3 I would love to have my teeth straightened, and apparently new straightened teeth feels nice xD.

The thing that happaned to Risako, happens to everyone. Its called Puberty. You never know how it's gonna effect some one. Skinny people gain weight, chubby people lose weight and some people,like me, grow 5 inches in 6 months.

Ah, yes. I understand that completely. I just didn't know whether she had actual surgery, or just grew up. xD; Cause I know that just a few years can cause a person to look drastically different, but... I didn't know, and was curious, LOL. *0*;;

^ i agree kaychi, ive looked at many risako pics when she was young and i would honestly say she was absoultly beautiful, cute and energetic... but she has changed ALOT through the years. i just couldnt believe those younger pics were her...... shes lost the young risako smile, character and cuteness. i dont find her as interesting and pretty as she was in the past.
