1. I congratulate her on the honor.
2. I pity her over what she is getting the honor for... "Assistant Front Office Manager"?! D@mn it she's a great idol... you don't put a great idol into a boring, run-of-the-mill white-collar job like that!

If I read correctly, the Standard is some kind of upscale Hollywood hotel. I really hope she gets back into performing! IMO, she had the best vocals in Minimoni. Oh, and in case it matters to anyone, I noticed that she smokes too.

^ ^ Yeah, the standard is a very fancy, upscale hotel. The lowest starting price for a room is $225 dollars! And from their website/blog/entertainment page, it seems like they're a hotel that is frequented by celebs.

The way I see it, at a hotel of that standard, and with a title (Assistant Front Office Manager), Mika's salary probably isn't anything to sneeze on. And if she's making money there, she can use it toward putting out an album (independant artists have to pay for those things themselves). I don't feel sorry for her. If she's that good at it, she must like it.

I think this is the hotel website:
http://www.standardh....com/hollywood/
You can find the hotel address on their page, and look it up on Google street view through Google Maps. From the outside it doesn't necessarily look upscale, but you might know something I don't. Where did you hear about this hotel?

Wow, well the standard is not a normal hotel. I haven't been to the the one in CA but the one in Manhattan is awesome. There's always celebrities at the rooftop lounge. Everybody that works there is beautiful and makes a lot of money, I mean, a glass of the cheapest wine is $30. As a manager she must really be making a lot of money.

It's not the money... it's that it's such a dull job... I mean, if she is happy, then I am happy for her, but to the extent that a fat white guy can do so, putting myself in her place...
I was one of the original Minimoni, a wildly successful idol group, I was one third of Coconuts Musume's lineup for its last single and finally (and this is what I'd be most proud of), I was the only foreign-born idol of any prominence to leave Hello! Project on my own terms... and now I'm the assistant manager... of a hotel... WTF?!
Well, that's how I'd see it... there are probably people who would prefer the hotel business to idolhood.

@Oikaze: Mika is luckier than most Japanese idols who have left the business. We should be glad of that. At the moment I'm worried what my Berryz will do after they retire. Its not like they have any other skill to fall back on. Its not like they are Sayu or Koha.

on the contrary I don't find that working in a hotel would be a boring career at all, and she's probably making comparatively what she did as a member of mini moni ...

If you follow her on Twitter (you should, if you're not; she replies to comments or questions!), you'll see that she has posted a few photos of her in a recording studio. On top of that, she has made mention (several times in fact) that she's working on projects. I'm just disappointed that she smokes. Yeah, yeah, I know....but it'll ruin that wonderful voice of hers

She smokes? Oh god. That's really terrible, especially if she ever wants to start her singing career up again. >_>

Ick... why would anyone inhale that stuff? Oh well, she's an adult. She was also at some sort of gambling establishment, which is also her right, but clearly, she ditched the whole "idol" thing long ago, albeit not entirely voluntarily.
Mika Todd is more surprising... Gottsuan was always a bit of a rebel, but Mika Todd was always the shy, serious one in Minimoni.

^ ^ Is that even possible? :O So you like never woke up at Slovakia/Austria border and you didn't know a shit about how you ended there, you never tried to break into your high school homeroom's teacher room at a schooltrip, you never took a pee into unknown people's wardrobe, you never tried to open a vending machine at the main train station thinking it's a WC and then felt asleep at the real one for 4 hours, you never said to your teacher at the university to shut the fu*k up, and other basic stuff like that?

^LOL it's definitely possible. Just like Oikaze, I didn't touch any alcohol or whatnot--that is until i turned 26. lol I was clean and innocent until age 26. Then vodka became a close friend. and for like 6 months i was an alcoholic. then i quit all that. lol. I'm easily addicted to things that make me feel good. women, alcohol, H!P. lol ahhhhh life. But now im a health enthusiast so I dont touch that crap anymore.

^ ^ I figure I'm crazy enough as it is... I don't need any extra help. XD Considering that, among other things, I once punched a board because I hit my head on it and I was angry (perfectly logical, right? =P) and got banned for a month from the local library for repeatedly looking up naughty stuff on the computers there- and did such things without any chemical assistance, I hate to think what I'd be like if I HAD said chemical assistance.
Given the company she has been keeping in some of these pics, though, it seems that Mika Todd may likewise be livin' la vida loca. XD
