Six members of the ultra-cool J-pop group AKB48(Team K), holding their USS Enterprise boarding passes, stand in front of the cast and director of the new “Star Trek” movie in the world gala premiere tour and press conference at Shinjuku Milano One in Tokyo, Japan. Director of the Star Trek film, JJ Abrams (who is surprisingly an avid fan of the AKB group) said he was invited to an AKB48 concert performance on his last visit to Japan, which he called a very exciting and fun-filled experience. The AKB girls, in their usual cheerful tone, asked Abrams if they could star in the next “Star Trek” movie, hilariously as cute aliens who have a dance session with Captain Kirk, prompting an explosion of laughter from the cast. Unfortunately, AKB48's presence went sadly unnoticed, most who attended the event even mistaking them for the popular rival idol group Morning Musume.
