Will someone please tell me why these girls have been taking over the board? What connection to H!P do they have? I can't find anything anywhere saying they're related to it.

Hi azrazae,

These girls have been taking over the AKB48 picboard ever since they were given one.

If you'd care to click around a little you'd quickly discover that there are 2 picboards now, not one. Meaning the H!P picboard is still here, with H!P girls in it.

So, they don't have a connection to H!P and don't need one either.

If you really want to find a connection to H!P, here's a history lesson:

Akimoto Yasushi produced Onyanko Club in the mid 1980s and they were an extremely successful idol group for 2 years before they abruptly ceased activities. over the years, many other idol groups including Osaka Performance Doll (which was Inaba Atsuko's first group) and Sakurakko Club mimicked the format for Akimoto's initial success, but like the original they quickly faded from the limelight and broke up. fast forward to the mid 90s and Tsunku's manager told him to produce an idol group, which he found under the guise of finding a female singer for his band Sharan Q. This group (MM, obv) introduced the idea for 'graduations' and thus because members could leave and join the group on a yearly basis, MM was the first idol group to be successful for a long period of time (most of the other groups died after about 2 years or so, MM is still going after 13 years). When Akimoto saw the success of MM, he decided to try his hand at making an idol group again and AKB48 was born in december 2005. so basically, without Onyanko Club there would be no H!P and without H!P there would be no AKB48.

^ Actually, the concept of "graduation" was introduced by Onyanko Club. Tsunku's idol group based itself entirely on the same concept with no real variation whatsoever.

Well there was a big variation to my opinion...
This variation was in the shuffle department, Akimoto's original idea was what is going on with XXX48, songs are sung by different members at live performances, rather than Tsunkus version to mix all the groups to form new units to sing new songs...

Both versions work great for me!!
I love to watch Blue Rose, Heart Gata Virus, Zanen Shoujo, Kuchi Utsushi no Chocolate, Kuroi Tenshi and so on sung by different members.
And without Tsunku's version we would never had had Elegies, Salt5, DEF. DIVA!!!! Guardians 4 And so on...

^ I'm not sure what you mean. All of those songs are performed by the same members except on special occasions. The idea of subgroups with original songs also has its origins in Onyanko Club. Surely you've heard of Ushirogami Hikaretai, Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi and Nyangilas?

Now that the extra fine and dainty AKB48 girls are on the PicBoard it's difficult to break away from Hello!-Online to get any real work done.

Yes but those were sub units from the main group jus like mini moni. or Tampopo not real shuffles like Elegies or Salt5. Or so as far as I recall now.
Same as for Watarirouka which is the revival of Ushirogami, they were all from the same group. Now we can call WH a shuffle since 2 of the girls were moved from their original team and a 5th was added that now is on yet another team.

And yes those songs are performed by the same members in the regular concerts... but then you have the "Shuffle" concerts and the LODs like for example Kazumi's Birthday were she sang "Chocolate" instead of Yuki, we also have the Kenkyuusei version of the stages, which in fact are not a special ocasion but an scheduled one.

^ "Real shuffles"? New songs for one-off units is the norm for AKB48, so they generally don't have names for each one in normal stages. Onyanko Club and Checkicco were like that too. Sure, sometimes they're performed by different girls on special occassions (the kenykyuusei point you brought up doesn't really count, they don't have their own songs to begin with), but in normal stage shows, it's the same units every time and they generally only have one song for that specific lineup. Different teams have performed together like this in Himawarigumi also. While they generally don't have names, sometimes they do when they actually release songs on singles. A few examples would be Team PB, Team YJ, MINT, chee's, METAMO, Nyangilas and M@M. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying that Morning Musume is somehow inferior, but claiming that the format is original at all is just wrong.

^ judging from your last statement, we were trying to defend the same point hahaha... I guess we only chose a different route for the same destination...
I was talking about diferences not originality!
I've always said that Akimoto had a great idea and created something big but in his first attempt he couldn't manage or didn't want to stablish it as a format for others to follow.
That was Tsunku's and company job...
Then when Akimoto decided to come back he just perfected it!
