About Me

A long time ago when I was an angst-ridden teenager who loved their Japanese rock with black lipstick and platform boots, I saw Mini-Moni perform Janken Pyon on Hey!Hey!Hey! Music Champ. I found it exceptionally disturbing. I had to download it. I had no idea what it was about or why I found it so fun, but despite that, it just remained a crazy song on my computer.

Flash-foward later when I'm in college, I met a girl who loved all shit Japanese. A self-proclaimed expert on everything from the land of the rising sun (you know, those people), she tells me that the crack-headed song about roshambo is none other than MINI-MONI and I must watch their movie because omg it's soooooo awesome. Ok.

What the hell is this shit??

At first I find it childish and slightly embarrassing, but it had its charm and I found it endearing. I tried singing and dancing to Okashi Tsukette Okasuii. Mika Todd caught my eye; I felt bad that they made her wear ugly American-flag covered jumpsuits. Yet her smile was so sweet! I started watching more Mini-Moni stuff, especially stuff that focused on Mika. I saw she sang in other groups (The Summer Shuffles) so I download those and well, let's just say I was well on my way into H!P fandom/insanity.

Unfortunately Mika had just graduated not long after I became a fan. Sadness. But there was still plenty of stuff that caught my attention. Morning Musume, Maki Goto, W (the twins!), and Berryz Koubou (eww, aren't they like 8 years old??).

Eight years later I'm still a fan and will keep on being a fan of Hello! Project. It serves as a nice, playful contrast to my other musical interests, such as David Bowie, Talking Heads, The Smiths, Electric-Six, basically just punk, post-punk bands, gothic, indie, and new wave music.

I wasn't able to go to LA to see Morning Musume at Anime Expo, but I hope one day they will come again and be joined with Buono! and Berryz Koubou.

Say hi to me, I'd love to make some friends at hello-online ^^;
