Hmm I still disagree on Dongho and Jonghyun definitely being in the top 11 before the reveal but I understand your point better now.  :)

I also don't care because a few K-netizens ≠ the 1,200,000+ people that voted for the final line up. In general I don't care what K-netz think.

I'm going to be honest. I read your last comment more than once and I don't know what's being said.

I'm just going to end the discussion here since it seems like nothing I say will change your mind that Dongho and Jonghyun were definitely in the top 11 for some reason. I was talking about voting as a whole this season and you keep talking about the finale. So, I really don't know where this conversation is supposed to go.

Also, I literally don't care what K-netizens think lol. They also think Samuel is Spanish and not Mexican, and that USA and Canada = White. What they say on an anonymous comment section of an article or anonymous forum means nothing to me.

But it's not simple logic. That was my point. The voting this season made the top 11 unpredictable. Dongho was literally in the top 11 once during the 2nd elimination round and only got 11th place. Who's to say he wasn't #15 place and then made it up to #13 when the votes closed?? There's no denying the reveal gave people a boost but you can't speculate and say it kicked so and so out of the top 11 when you didn't even know the top 11 before the reveal.

Tbh I don't know what happened to him, but I personally think people just thought Jonghyun was going to make it and voted for other trainees to get them debut. Him not making it still has me???? But I wouldn't blame it on votes being manipulated.

Edit: Lol wait what is the cover task?? The first group round or ?

Okay, I'm already going to cancel that picture from the discussion because it's an instagram screenshot with literally no sources on the ranks. It wasn't revealed at all that Jonghyun and Dongho were in the top 11, especially those specific ranks. (10, 9). The only ranks revealed were the 4 at the start, and Minhyun at 11 later on, and the final ranks. There's no source on any of other ranks. (Like where does someone get the idea none of the bottom 5 moved around between themselves? Where was it even said that Sungwoon was 7 and dropped to 11? He could have been 15 and then jumped to 11 because viewers liked him as center for all we know.)

There's a lot of factors that went into voting this season that decided the ranks. When I said the voting wasn't manipulated, I meant overall, not just the finale.

  • Top 11 voting was the voting method for the first two elimination rounds. There was a lot of changes in these first two rounds with the top 11. (Ex: Samuel, and Jisung making it the first time but not the second time. Youngmin only making it in the second time.) People could have picked Jisung and Samual a lot the first round of voting, maybe not as their number 1, but as their #7 or #10. Trainees like Jonghyun and Guanlin probably became more liked later on and people picked them to include in their top 11. Again maybe not as their #1 but probably as their #5 or #8 for example. Same with Youngmin.
  • Top 2 was the voting method for the third elimination round. This could explain why Guanlin dropped down to #20 and why Youngmin dropped out the top 11 completely. If they were people's #7 pick, they obviously didn't get that vote this round because those people would have only voted for their top #2. Which would explain why people like Jonghyun dropped, Daniel went to #1, Jinyoung, Woojin, and Sungwoon made top 11, and why Jisung and Samuel went back to the top 11.
  • Top 1 voting was the last voting method + there was live voting where one live/text vote = 7 votes. Samuel could have been a lot of people's #2 pick. Which is why he dropped out of the top 11. The finale episode was the most viewed episode of the season. A lot of people could have just turned on the TV to watch the finale and decided to vote. (Which wouldn't surprise me based on the increase in ratings from ep 10 to ep 11.) Some people could have voted for someone who was amazing on stage. Sungwoon and Jinyoung were AMAZING centers. That would have caught someone's eye and made them vote for them. Maybe people really liked Jaehwan's vocals and voted for him because he stood out. (I'm biased to Samuel but he didn't stick out on stage during Super Hot. He kind of just blended in. I think small things like that affected him and other trainees with the same problem.) There was so many factors that would have influenced the way people voted.
  • International fans couldn't vote this year.

Season 1 was very consistent with the top 11 whereas this season was all over the place. This season was more popular than last season. I don't think you can compare to what happened this season to last season and expect things to end up the same. Because of the change in voting methods, it's almost impossible to sit here and say voting was manipulated.

Disclaimer: All the examples I gave next to the bullets are hypothetical. I'm not saying it's 100% what happened, but situations like that could have been possibilities.

Also, I don't follow AKB at all and I know nothing about them, so I don't understand the last point you were making. :(

I'll be honest, I didn't think the voting was manipulated at all. The only difference from this season from last was that we didn't go to the number 1 fixed pick right away. Instead we went from top 11, top 2, and then final pick. I think that definitely kept the show interesting and really reflected on the boy's popularity at the elimination rounds. Although, revealing the top 11-14 during the finale was a bit weird. But I don't think it affected anyone that much. (Samuel and Jonghyun in mind.)

Screentime doesn't mean much to me. Some people who got loads of screentime got eliminated early on or didn't even make the final group despite making it to the end. Whereas some people with little to no screentime made it pretty far. (lol Kenta)

Showtime team was done dirty though. They did a hidden camera for Sanggyun's birthday and they also filmed a challenge where they had to go out into the public. Neither of those made it into the final episode. Not even them in the recording studio was put into the episode. All my faves were in Showtime, so sometimes I can't tell if I'm being biased or not but they really were thrown underneath the bus in this one.

The only thing I don't like about PD101 is the evil editing. The girls and boys all get along fairly well and have a lot of fun. It's sad to see mnet try and edit them badly for views and suspense :(

This was also an interesting article. Makes me kind of anxious for Seventeen, especially since Pledis decided to ship them overseas on a world tour with tiny venues. (RIP EBS, probably gonna become EBW now since Produce 101 was a HUGE hit with middle schoolers)
