In Topic: Thousands protest new US base on Okinawa

Because masses of people together (even if they would all be intelligent and reasonable on their own) are always dumb. They become attached to causes and lose sight of the reasons for them.

In Topic: H!O Tracker closure let's talk about alternatives.

There are sites that allow you to login with your facebook, msn or google profiles. Likewise, a torrent engine of the hypothetical AKB torrent engine could have allowed you to log in with your H!O profile, as an alternate to it's own user authentication system. I.e. at user registration, you'd provide your H!O profile, select to use it instead of making a new password, and the site would then query H!O about your account. Then, when you search and download torrents from them, they download them first from H!O (using your H!O account), add their own information to the torrent file and provide you with the combined file, which is one download to you.

Now that H!O's tracker is "down", it doesn't make a lot of sense any more.

facebook/microsoft/google/etc. use OAuth to provide this functionality, but none of the sites you're talking about integrating with do. I suppose the new idol tracker could (and it would make developing automated tools easier), but what sites would integrate with it?

There's probably also some hackish and significantly-less-secure way to integrate them, but that would require developer cooperation (see below).

If the torrent, that has authentication information to announce on multiple (private) trackers is used and runs out of peers, it can decide to switch the tracker it uses, as I wrote previously. I.e. it's the same torrent file that can have an announce link for nyaa, H!O and JPS. It cannot be active at two of them at the same time. But it's still the same torrent file and the same torrent being announcable on all 3. As most torrents being seeded do not have any peers that are connected, they can switch trackers at any time, which means you are "effectively" in all 3 networks, because you keep moving between networks until there's demand, and chances that there's demand on two networks at the same time are low for all torrents that aren't very hot or very large.

It can't be active on Nyaa at all because setting the private flag (required for JPS and H!O) changes the info hash, and Nyaa's torrents have it unset.

Spoiler

If no private trackers are in use, then eventually multiple trackers are reported your upload, so they will have to collaborate with each other in order to not account your upload multiple times.

Good luck getting that to happen. JPS has no developers, it doesn't sound like Nyaa's developers care. If there were two separate, actively developed idol trackers (as H!O and AKB48online back in the day) then maybe your idea could work, but right now it's too much effort for literally 0 gain.

d-addicts was a public tracker, too. I don't know whether they recorded ratios as I never had an user account there, although it wouldn't be unprecedented to record ratio stats on a public tracker.

Maybe not but they'd be wildly inaccurate (or at least, make no sense to the user).

This can in especially be the AKB torrent engine's torrent-file generator, or a browser-embedded app that runs on a web-client of the AKB site. It can request the torrent-file from H!O using the H!O user credentials, and once it has the torrent, add the AKB tracker as well as AKB tracker credential to the torrent-file. A standards conforming bittorrent client would then announce on whatever tracker is listed first in the torrent-file, and if the announce doesn't result in at least one transmission being established, the client is allowed to announce on the other tracker. If configured accordingly, it would regularily switch trackers until it finds seeds/leeches willing to do transmissions.

You'd still need to download a new torrent file, so why go through all this trouble to add two (one dead, one active) trackers when you only need the one? And there's still the issue of not being able to seed the exact same torrent on Nyaa, Jpopsuki, and a hypothetical AKB tracker, which is what you were originally talking about and I was responding to.

^^ We will be able to mirror. To H!O's new tracker, when it's done.

You are right that you should have been able to run an AKB tracker. There's more AKB fans here than H!P ones from what I can see. But the AKB tracker shouldn't have "taken" the AKB stuff from H!O, but "added" to them instead. I.e. the two trackers should have collaborated, and any downloaded torrent should have announced on both trackers. That's what d-addicts used to do, so people with d-addicts torrents can still use them despite d-addict having been taken down: it's mirror openbt is still operational.

openbt isn't a mirror, it's a public tracker. If d-addicts torrents could connect to openbt then they weren't private, and you could add any trackers you wanted to them. Did d-addicts attempt to record ratios? I highly doubt it.

We shouldn't segragate, as that will only thin down the user base. That's also why I asked some time ago whether I could re-upload a nyaa torrent on JPS in order to use both networks at the same time, but it seems not to be allowed.

It's not just not allowed, it's not possible. JPS replaces the announce url with it's private one (and also presumably turns on the private flag), and even if it didn't the torrent you download from JPS has your private key attached so it would be different from whatever you got from Nyaa. That said, you can totally seed the same files using two separate torrents.

In jps I need more data upload but if download a big file need share more, too the majority off files was uploaded, the answer is upload old files... but goodbye Isos of blu-ray, with 20 gb my ratio down, I will need upload 60 gb for ratio of 0.30, other answer is download news recent files and share because everyone need this file as Magazines.

Wao I have 2 report well for the next should take care with the name, but report for donĀ“t split a word is angry

As I said before...

The reports are just so the moderator can fix the title, it doesn't mean you need to freak out and delete it.

--------------

A lot of people seem to think JPS goes a bit overboard with their naming system. It's not just because they like being picky, it's because it makes searching for content SOOO much nicer.
