So who else is on mixi?

You won't be able to view my profile there unless you are already a member. Mixi is a Japanese social networking site where membership is by invitation. With the entire population of Japan apparently using it, getting an invite isn't hard, but you do need to be able to read Japanese.

As you might expect, there is a wealth (is that the right word??) of H!P communities on mixi. Everything from the "I want to be arrested by police uniform Reina" community to the "Fans of Risa who are gay" community. Why would anyone not want to be a part of this? lol

I'm on it, but I haven't actually touched my account lol. I usually use my brother's as he has a well established on already. I'll go see if I can remember my user/pass.

Basically the Japanese version of MySpace. Basically if you want lotsa Japanese online friends, that's what you'd use. Instant messaging is basically non-existant there.

PM me your email address and I can drop you an invite. I only ask that you not use an H!P member's pic or any other celebrity pic for your avatar. Too many people doing that!

Btw it's gotten more difficult to join mixi. You need to have a vaild email address and cell phone email address. They included that to prevent multiple accounts.

Athena: Are Japanese guys always sending you invites? You could put something in your profile to the effect that you only welcome invites from females or whatever, which I think most Japanese would respect. Mixi users aren't supposed to invite people we don't personally know anyway, although a lot of us break the rule (including me ^U^).

On joining, surely they must still accept email addresses from cell phone-compatible mail providers such as goomail? In which case, navigating through the Japanese required to sign up for Mixi should be no more difficult than navigating through the Japanese needed to sign up for a free email address.
