The saddest J-Drama, in my opinion, without a doubt, is Ichi Rittoru no Namida, starring Sawajiri Erika and Nishikido Ryo.

Number 2 would be Taiyou no Uta. This has Sawajiri Erika and Yamada Takayuki. (Darn Sawajiri-san always dying! <3)

Number 3 is. . . Byakuyakou. A heart-breaking story starring Yamada Takayuki.

Number 4 - Majo no Jouken. Stars Takizawa Hideaki. Not really a tear-jerker, but it's still really sad.

Number 5 would then be Taiyou no Kisetsu. Also stars Takizawa Hideaki. Again, not a tragedy exactly, but the storyline is very touching, and it can get pretty sad at times.

Well. . . I don't watch that many tear-jerkers, so this was all I could come up with.

Hope it helps! XD

Check out Taiyou no Uta the movie if you haven't already. The reason why I haven't watched the drama is because I doubt it would compare with the movie (and YUI).

Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake is a pretty good tearjerker type, but the first episode sucks.

Byakuyakou and Majo no Jouken are two best dramas I've ever seen period, although I'd classify Byakuyakou as more of a mystery/thriller/suspense type. I'd still recommend them over anything though.

Also, Sekai no Chuushin is really, really good, and has the same leads as Byakuyakou. ^_^

i haven't seen that many J-dramas, but Ichi Rittoru no Namida is without a doubt the saddest.

i think that the movie is better, but i watched the drama before the movie. and the drama is good. Erika is a really good actor. but YUI is doubtless a much better artist.

and if i'm allowed to throw in a movie, Saishuu Heiki Kanojo (She, The Ultimate Weapon) is really sad.

I forgot to mention Sekai no Chuushin, but luckily, the others did.

Basically, Yamada Takayuki and Sawajiri Erika have a habit of being in really sad shows. :w00t:

Since I've only seen one my list is short - 1 Litre of Tears.

I want to see Taiyou no Uta with her in it.

the saddest? 1 Litre of Tears (Ichi Littoru No Namida), by a mile! and the best J-drama ever in my opinion as well.
Crying Out Love in the Center of the World (Sekai No Chuushin, Ai Wo Sakebu) was also good, considering it came after the movie.

Eventhough I'm a big Erika Sawajiri fan, I think Midnight Sun (Taiyou No Uta) was kinda disappointing coz the earlier movie version was much better (and probably coz I'm an even bigger YUI fan!). I'm hesitant to watch the drama version of Be With You (Ima Ai Ni Yukimasu) because of the same reason - it may not live up to the standards set by the movie.

I just got done watching Taiyou no Kisetsu. I have to say its my new favorite Jdrama... I think the only word i can say after watching it... is....... wow..just wow... nothing else to say.. One of the greatest i've seen so far ( VERY VERY MUCH appreciate it for suggesting it. )

you can watch the series at Crunchyroll.com

It's pretty much where i watch all of it at. there is a bandwidth limit daily though (yea i know that sucks). but it's ok you can watch like probably 7-8 episodes a day. Actually heres a secret heheheh.. after the you reach the bandwidth limit, just try again like 4-5 hours later. It should work again

I think we've reached a consensus here. :GGRR:

Ichi Rittoru no Namida/1 Litre of Tears if officially the saddest J-drama to date!
