• She was formerly a member of the indie idol groups Beam Idol School (ビームアイドルスクール) (gaduated November 22, 2015), and ☆ARION☆ (disbanded on December 31, 2016). She was active as an indepdendent local idol under the name OTO♡ until suspending activities on October 31, 2017; her final performance took place in a local cafe where she performed "Akai Freesia" by Melon Kinenbi.
• Made it to the third round of the Morning Musume '16 Shinseiki Audition in 2016, but did not pass.
• Was a finalist in the Hello! Project New Member Audition that took place in 2017, where her number was #113. No finalists passed.
• She was one of the first to express interest in the offer to join the Hello Pro Kenshuusei, alongside Hashimoto Momoko and Gotou Sayaka.

She kind of went under the radar in the audition and I know that she didn't really stand out to a lot of people. But I actually think her dancing looked really sharp and her singing wouldn't need much work to become pretty decent, her experience is going to count a lot in her favour.

 

I actually like the fact she's understated, she comes across as a very ordinary Japanese school girl but from her previous groups I think she 'Idolizes' really well.

Since almost no one paid attention to her and some didn't like her looks, I'm gonna root for her, love me some underdog story.

 

I was very fond of her reaction when she failed the audition, no tears, no regret, just a very soothing voice expressing optimism. She's cute in my eyes.

Ooh those pre-KSS photos are pretty cute, cuter than she was in the auditions. She didn't stand out in the audition, but she might more irl.

The footage for her KSS acceptance is hilarious, it turns out she's a 'scary sensei' herself.   Also includes a graduation.

After watching episode 9 of the audition program, it seems Shion plays the drums and gives drum lessons? It was a great comedic setup; the kid teacher and the grown adult student, and she was nice but persistent.

At first I thought it was going to be, ah this is nice her Grandad taught her how to play drums. Then it quickly became obvious, no she's teaching her grandad.

 

- She also does Tate, this is a form of staged combat/sword fighting.

- Less clear about this, but she was performing as a 'Free Idol' locally? So not agency attached, you could see it looked like she had all her own costumes in her room (Which she shares with her mother). So they showed her graduation from her Free Idol career in a local cafe.

- She's definitely got a good selection of H!P knowledge already - What is Love audition dance performance, Akai Freesia for her graduation, Hey Meccha Holiday for her lesson introduction and looks like she was practicing the One Two Three choreography at home.
