I thought you'd appreciate this, despite it being a bit cheesy. Maki Goto takes on samurai warriors.

Oh yeah! GoMaki is never boring. Everyone still misses her! I got a good laugh @ 0:34 when she failed to properly draw her blade. Cheesy, yes, but fun too!

Yeah you are right. I watched this somewhere around 3 AM after a very long day. Watching it again I see it from a different perspective.
I loved sword fighting. I wish I had never stopped.

Here is another photo of an idol with a samurai sword. I am not sure who this is.

Here is the real deal. One bad-ass lady!
Here is a clip from National Geographic's Smithsonian's "Samurai Warrior Queens"

That first pic w/ the samurai sword / school costume looks like either a Blood+ adaptation / cosplay or that movie I've seen clips from on Facebook where a girl slides down a hallway taking out tons of machine gun wielding dudes.
Have you done much YouTube searching? Just trying to find the clip I referenced I saw so many other asian female sword fighting stuff that hasn't been shared here.
(PS - read your signature - sorry to hear that. I support you and your remarks!)

A friend posted the bloody schoolgirl with sword on FB. I liked it and posted it here. She would have fit right in with Lucy Liu's "GoGo Yubari" bodyguard and the "Crazy 88" in Kill Bill vol.1, eh?
No, I have not done much searching until last night. I am surprised the links I provided to the original story, and Smithsonian's Samurai Warrior Queens have already been taken down. Without the original story this tread is pretty weak. I would like to find it and re-post it again, along with other historical documents to shine the light on female warriors.
Thank you for your support!

^ wow!
What are those squeaking sounds I keep hearing?
Also, are those real knives?? Hope not...
Looks like fun though.

^ I think what you are calling squeaking sounds are a members high pitched "Hee hee hee" laughter. They were laughing at the mis-match in the size of the two competitors. The little guy is an instructor here. He just earned his third black belt. Now he holds black belts in Brazilian Jujitsu, Kung Fu San Soo, and Israeli Krav Maga. He is also a MMA professional prize fighter. The big guy is a Parole Officer and a student. They laughed at how that little guy could throw the great big guy! Yes it is great fun!
(Edit: Another person tells me she hears it too, and it is not the laughter. It could be the sound of their bare feet on the vinyl surface of the padded mat. OR it could be the sound of the steel blades hitting each other and the metal screen on the head gear.)
No those are not real sharp bladed knives. They have real steel blades that have no edge so no one gets killed. If you will look closely, those knives will glow red or green whenever they make a solid contact with something. That is an electronic attachment made for keeping score of who makes a good strike.
