tanaka miku! thanks guys. yup the girl in front... i checked their profiles pics and seriously couldnt tell if they were them. sometimes its hard to tell them from their profile pics vs the videos i see.

While I like that they sell well, I also don't want to see the group go for solutions like that, involving graduated members. It's not awesome.

well .. this single seem to bring it all back ..
the prime time AKB48 .. the reason why I like AKB48 .. even if my oshimen is never in the senbatsu ..
its just something I mentally accept and like ..I guess ..

I love this single and I'm glad its sold so well, but i can't help but think "what if the graduates, nogizaka ace's, and all the other incentives weren't there?" would they have reached 1mil or would it have been similar to KBMB? We'll never know but one thing is for sure, Management will probably look at this and think "this is the solution" which I personally wouldn't like.

Also, this must be a slow week. #2 (CG) on the first day wasn't even 25k sales, and today akb grabbed #1 with under 40k sales.

The most popular editions are by SKE and HKT. Nogi's is #3, so I don't think they had that much of an influence. I'd guess they helped for like 50k of the sales (?) dunno, just speculating. And the graduates were mostly pushing people away than attracting them to the single IMO. And do the grads even have any gimmicks that come with the single?

 

Also apparently soundscan confirmed that without Theater editions the single sold 135k, which is the lowest for AKB since their big break. And Halloween Night was 160k which fans consider low.

 

We will see if AKB's sales are failing or not with the SSK single. I think it might be a true indication if the interest for the group is fading or not.

But, don't people opt for the theater editions because they're cheaper? So it's cheaper to buy handshake tickets? I think that's the reason why the theater edition makes up the majority of the sales. SKE, HKT and Nogi editions being the most popular just show that 1) sister group fans are buying this AKB single for the sister group song and 2) fans of the members on that specific cover are buying it because their oshimen is on the cover. 

 

The SSK single (i assume you're referring to the result single and not the ballot single right? ) again mostly depends on the handshake tickets and the members who rank in. For example, if Okada Nana ranked in 17th and got undergirls center, her fans will probably buy more copies. If anything i think the single that you could use to analyse the groups popularity and sales the best is the Autumn/End of year singles, the Sakura single/first single of the year being the second one.

Maybe you are right, singles where there isnt as much sister group influence and there isnt a popularity fights are the best to indicate...

Well if that's the case i think it would be more of an indicator of whether the election gimmick is working anymore + fan willpower 

I just wish sister groups didn't participate in the singles (expect the ballot single and election results single) unless they're picked for senbatsu loool

I think the strategy is working for this single.. but not really working for the future of AKB48..

So the strategy that I see for this single:

1) Bringing back some popular former members

2) Nogizaka X AKB song

3) Sister's group b-side songs (this occur with every single right?)

4) Handshake participation by AKB48 & sister groups members

 

The song is nice.. I love it.. but I felt bitter to see their desperation to get million again..

I agree with you, banana. I don't think it would benefit the future of the group if they bring back graduated (especially the very popular senbatsu regulars) members. To me it just says they are desperate.

 

Can't remember if I stated my fav songs here yet. Oh well, I will type them again. I love HKT's and the NogixAKB song the most
