I have to get something of my chest, and i hope you guys will join in this discussion

as i hope to understand the workings of Tsunku mind.

He is without doubt a musical genius, and his production skills are awesome.

But just lately i have been worried about his ability to mix songs.

Take for example the last track on the last Berryz 9 album

Momochi Yurushite nyan Taiso

I'm sorry to upset momoko fans and i am not dissing momoko herself, but it was a TERRIBLE remix, and should not have been included in the album,

I would have preferred "Loving you too much as the ending tract, or the original momoko song.

He did it previously with other song, that i feel have fallen way below par.

yet the 2nd c-ute greatest hits the 2012 remix were pretty good and some even were better than the original.

Oki na Ai de Motenashite is a good example of this.

I wondered what other fans thought of this, and i would appreciate your thoughts.

should he be re mixing classic songs at all?

Tsunku is the composer. It's other people who do the arrangements/mixing.

well not on my itunes. It says

composed and mixed by Tsunku.

well, that poses a greater question.

If it is someone else, they why dose he allow it to happen?

I have checked and for the song Sougen no hito sung by

Aya  Matsuura it says produced and mixed by Tsunku

so he dose both.

The album remix of Yurushite Nyan Taisou was done by Harada Nao, he's mainly a guitar arranger including AKB and SKE - maybe he should stick at that then?  XD

Incidentally the same production company (Highkick) appears to be writing and arranging Tasaki Asahi for Up Front.

http://www.highkick.jp/harada.php

Shougen no hito was arranged by Suzuki 'Dachi' Hideyuki who also arranged Do It now, Joshi Kashimashi and Mikan. He's also actually arranged Tsunku himself!

Ookina ai de motenashite (Remix) was arranged by Suzuki Hiraoki.

What you need to check for on each track is 編曲 - Henkyoku this means 'arranger' - Tsunku's credits are normally 作詞 - Sakushi - lyrics and 作曲 - Sakkyoku - composition. Tsunku is credited as the 'producer' for all H!P tracks because he produces Hello Project, in these terms it's more like a Film producer or Computer Games producer. In fact as far as I know from the very start the mixing and arrangement has never been done by Tsunku himself. That doesn't mean he doesn't sign off on the quality of the work actually that's bound to be one of his main roles (so you can stick that one on him). ;)

Then perhaps i need to rearrange my Question.

Why dose Tsukku allow such rubbish remixes of his work to appear on his albums?

Probably because he has no say in it. Final say lies with Yamazaki Naoki, from Upfront, who's probably unwilling to pay to get another rearrangement done. It's simply a matter of cost-effectiveness. They want to release albums with as little on them as possible to minimise expense and then sell them at 3000yen a pop to maximise revenue. Look at the sales of Momusu albums lately. They'd probably save more money just not bothering with albums at all. If they can release a 10 track album with 4 singles, 2 remixes and four new songs, then they minimise the workload for Tsunku (only has to write 4 sets of lyrics and melodies), minimise cost of arrangers (4 and 2 remixers) and they can charge just as much for it as someone releasing an album with 15 tracks of which 13 are new.

At the end of the day, idol albums tend to be makeweights anyway, the real profit lies in singles and handshake events (unless you're Momoclo, but rules are there to be broken, I suppose).

You also have another good piece of evidence for the lack of control Tsunku really has in H!P and that's the existence of TNX. Why have a parallel company within the organisation largely doing exactly the same thing? (but on a lower budget) The answer is to give Tsunku projects where he does have that control, Noaki needs Tsunku though because of things like this very conversation - he's the fall guy for all the decision making good and bad, and Tsunku is normally man enough to soak up all that public pressure.

many thanks, i always thought Tsunku was the Top man Of HP

But obviously not.

Thank you for your comments krv fae vasftafel.

It sort of pisses me off when they rip the fans off.

I know the record companies don't make money from album sales and it is concerts where they get their cash

but if you wan't to attract fans, then some quality albums would not go amiss.

Thanks for the post.

I actually learned something.

Do you know why cha cha song was not on the berryz album on the itunes version?

was it something to do with copy rights?

Very good observation. Tsunku has been round the music business for years, so he would be the perfect

fall guy.

The remix is just really all over the place. Tsunku's songs are always a bit everywhere but this remix by Harada Nao (was it?) is kind of a constant experiment. It's like he tries one idea for a bit and then decides he doesn't like it and changes. It'sdisappointing and way below the standard that we expect from H!P.

Hi there.

I'm so glad you agree.

It is a shame as Momoko is a very talented young lady, and will go far.

Sad way to end a good album.
