Gosh she needs to release a new Japanese single/album! It's been nearly a year since her last release (WOO WEEKEND). Japan is going to forget about her

Here's what I think BoA should do:

After her movie is all done with, she needs to take a nice long break from work. In 2013 she should come back to Japan with some GOOD, FRESH new music! No, none of that Identity or WOO WEEKEND crap... but some good music.

Identity sucked pretty badly, it was her worst album ever. Same with WOO WEEKEND. She should come back with some good music... like, her pre-2007 music. Yes, I realize BoA isn't a teenager anymore, but I much prefer her happy/cute and her early "cool" songs than the music she has out out recently. Hurricane Venus was pretty good, but not my cup of tea. I don't really like "edgy" BoA. Now she's just become like typical K-Pop... I think she would have more freedom in Japan. In 2013 she'll be 26/27, but just because she is in her mid-twenties doesn't mean she can't do happy and cute stuff. She proved that with Brand New Beat (although she was 20 at the time).

Ayu is 32 and she can totally still pull off cute, happy music! And so can BoA! Also, she can be cool without being.... Hurricane Venus. I don't know why but I just REALLY don't like that style from her.

I just want her to come out with better music soon... but after resting. she deserves a rest, girl has been working so hard since she was 11 years old.

I understand that, that type of music isn't what you are into but it doesn't mean BoA should redo her style because that style is more popular in Japan. BoA is a Korean idol and in Korea the look for females is more adult and sensual than that of Japan. BoA has released a lot more adult songs that cute teen poppy ones now that she is older. Since she started so early she grew with her music. Going back to that style would really hinder her growth as a person and an idol. And with the recent wave of Korean idols coming into Japan the groups aren't going to be doing pop songs like they have in the past. Look at After School with Bang and Secret with Madonna.

I love BoA so that is why I am posting but I think we need to respect whatever BoA picks to do with her music because I loved her English album. I listen to it in my car all the time.

I love BoA too, she was the reason I got into JPOP, back when she did the opening/ending for InuYasha, but like I agree with Rimii.
She travels between a feminine and masculine style, she hasn't been cute for a long time. So her growing older means she is maturing which makes her music more mature, and BoA also didn't grow up in the culture that most Japanese women grew up with. There is a culture difference.
Japanese tend to stay cute for as long as possible because most men find it appealing; Take Reina for instances, she is in her 20's and still wears her hair in pigtails. Then in Korea they tend to be more mature, but keep the cute to a minimum level. Such as doing aegyo or something along those lines.
Even though I would like to see a cute BoA for the giggles, I think it would be awkward, she has too much BAMF in her to really pull it off.

I hope she is happy taking her long break though; She had a cameo on Athena: Goddess of War the last time I checked and there had been little updates about her when she was practicing her drums during break time and stuff.
I hope to see a comeback in Japan though, or another Korean comeback after her well deserved break
