This awesome and funny drama with Haruka Ayase and Naohito Fujiki is getting a second season this summer, so I thought it's about time it had its own thread. I for one can't wait.

Synopsis

Hotaru works for a famous interior design company. It's a glamorous job but Hotaru's private life is totally the opposite of glamorous. She lives alone, and when she isn't working she's mostly lazing about her rented house in training wear. She's not interested in men. In fact, she isn't interested in anything. "I'd rather lay around than fool around," is her motto. Her landlord is a bar owner, and one day his son, who has just separated from his wife, comes to inspect the rental property, not knowing that someone is living there. He is shocked at the mess, but not as shocked as Hotaru. He turns out to be her boss, Takano.

Update : Haruka Ayase denies rumours and Hotaru No Hikaru 2 Post Conference~

Yesterday was the press conference for NTV’s upcoming summer dorama “Hotaru no Hikari 2″ starring Ayase Haruka (25) and many reporters were curious to get a response from Ayase about her alleged relationship with actor Osawa Takao (42). Unsurprisingly she clearly denied the rumors. “There is nothing like that going on (between us),” she said.

“Hotaru no Hikari 2″ is the sequel to the popular drama series that aired in the summer of 2007. The story is based on a novel by Hiura Satoru and focuses on the life of Hotaru, a so-called “himono onna”. Himono as in “dried fish”, because she’s a woman who refrains from love and rather lies around at home. The first season started with Hotaru ending up living together with the director at her workplace played by Fujiki Naohito (37). Eventually she experiences what it means to fall in love and this time she even starts to think about marriage.

Yasuda Ken (36), who will appear in the second season again, gave an advice to couples who are currently thinking about marriage. “I think it would be better to start living together before making that decision,” he said. Ayase was impressed and responded, “I’ll keep that in mind.” About filming the sequel she said, “I’m happy that we are filming part two and will enjoy the filming.”

Fujiki is happy too and joked about his age, “I’m happy that the drama is returning. It’s been three years and the director is still the director, except that I’ve grown older… That’s my personal problem, though.”

Since this season’s theme will be associated with “marriage,” what does the cast associate with that topic? Ayase associated marriage with something “you are longing for”, “a goal in your life” and with “parents”. Mukai Osamu (28), a new addition to the cast, answered “Re:Start”.

Itaya Yuka (34), Yasuda, Kimura Tae (39) and Fujiki all are already married and they all said that marriage means to become one with another person. Mukai can already feel the influence from all the married people around him, “At the moment I don’t really want to get married anytime soon, but it feels like I’m surrounded by that topic everywhere…” His fans only wish him the best and shouted “Good Luck!” to cheer him up. “Thanks! I’ll try to hurry,” he responded with a bitter smile, knowing that he is approaching the thirty.

Usuda Asami (25) also attended the press conference.

“Hotaru no Hikari 2″ will be the new Wednesday 10pm drama of NTV and start with the first episode on July 07. The first episode will be 15 minutes longer.

I feel bad for starting this thread and not writing anything, but I kind of lost my interest in jdrama recently. After seeing Momusu in Paris, that's all I've been thinking about. So I haven't even finished the first episode yet. Anyone watching it? Is it good?

So far it is entertaining like the first season. Although it is more episodic in a sense that Hotaru "learns" about marriage each episode.
The is a slight love trieangle or let's say love rivals for both buchou and Hotaru too.

I am at ep5 and can't wait for more

I've watched two episodes now, it really is funny and I think it's just as good as the first season.

She's such a great actress and Hotaru such a funny character!
I randomly bought season 1 when i was in this store that sells a ton of cheep Jdrama boxsets and watched the first 2 episodes... forgot about and then finished it in about 3 days after remembering it a few months ago.
Still need to watch season two though! Can't wait to watch it!

This is one of my favorite Jdoramas. Very funny romantic comedy with a simply stellar performance by Haruka Ayase, who is maybe the most beautiful woman in Japan.

omg i just saw the first season like 4 days ago...and i love it!

its my first drama and it really touched me lol (being a bit weird)

if you still don,t believe on me then chant any other name for 5 Min's and chant this holy name for 5 Min's and you will see effect. i promise you it works And chanting at least 16 rounds ( each round of 108 beads ) of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra daily.
