It has come to my attention that Yui Ogura, who is basically the cutest girl on the planet, does not yet have her own thread on this board. In order to redress this tremendous grievance I hereby open the official Hello!Online Ogura Yui Thread.

Yui is part of Team Dekaris and also of YuiKaori, a HAPPY! STYLE unit formed by her and Kaori Ishihara. Their debut single "Our Steady Boy" was released on 12th May under the King Records Label. The song is used as the ending theme for the anime "kiss×sis".

Not much there if you don't understand Japanese, except maybe the YouTube videos (scroll down to the bottom or use the links I posted below) and the voice samples (scroll a little down and on the right it should say "Voice Sample" with a few links under it). I really recommend the voice samples, they're terribly cute. There's also a (scanty) photo gallery.

Thanks L414 for starting Yui's thread. I was thinking about doing it myself last week but I didn't think I had enough material to start one. I hope more ppl would realise Yuchan's talent.

Does anyone have any idea what Yuchan means by roler-ball pens and what makes her obsessed with it

Roller-ball pens are water-based ballpoint pens, that is to say they use a water-based ink and not an oil-based ink like normal ballpoint pens do.

"Things you're obsessed with right now" is my translation for マイブーム (My Boom), which is a wasei-eigo term. The meanings of those can often be a little mysterious to non-Japansese speakers, but I think that's pretty much what they mean: things someone is obsessed with or really into right now.

Why she likes those pens so much, I can't really say. My best guess is, that she discovered that she can write with them much better. The ink of roller-ball pens usually saturates more deeply, you don't have to apply as much pressure and the ink is available in a greater range of colours. There are a number of disadvantages, too, but roller-ball pens must have proven to be more useful for the tasks she needs them for.

So, what does an idol need pens for, anyway? Drawing cute pictures, mostly hearts and her name. Yeah, I imagine it sucks to give an autograph with a ballpoint pen that doesn't write properly. Then again, they mostly use marker pens for that, don't they.

Yui is just plain amazing doing the Miku dance. Her reharsal shot ( wearing white dancing shoes ) is 99.9999999% exactly the same as the real video shot. Awesome!

@Ahiko: Yuchan is a member of Happy!Style which is managed by UpFrontStyle. UFS does alot of anime related projects. For example, Reina's Kaitou Reinya anime is a UFS project. In addition to that, they also have projects related to games, like Sega's Project Diva - Vocaloid 2 and Sega's Dekaris.

I think Yuchan's popularity was already on the rise ever since she did the motion capture gig for the vocaloid Hatsune Miku. Since then she was getting more exposure thru Sega. Lets hope for the best for Yuchan that more good things will go her way.
