this was the most hit movie in japan for 2004...
anyone know what the story is?
from what i hear it was very touching and left a super big impact on japan, and the word sekachuu(the short form for the movie's title) even almost(or did) won the award for the most commonly used term/word in japan for the year~

ive found this...
Hi! The romanji reading of 世界の中心で愛をさけぶ is sekai no chushin de ai wo sakebu. Its a romance drama, about a person (Sakutaro) who lost his girlfriend (Aki) 17 years ago, and till now, he still cannot get over it. Basically, there's two plots going on at the same time-- the modern Sakutaro and his close friend (who is also named Aki!); and the flash-back stories of Sakutaro and Aki 17 years ago (the drama seems to focus on this one).
Btw, this drama is based on a famous novel of a similar name ....

Saku: Aki said that it was her best birthday yet. It was the first time I'd been told something like that. And this became Aki's final birthday. July 2nd, 1987... But will I continue living like this? I knew that it was best to forget...

I know there's a drama series with the same name. I ought to watch it, but should I watch the series first and then the movie or vice versa ?
I don't know much about it, except that the title song, Hitomi wo Tojite from Hirai Ken, was on the radio so much when I was in Kyoto last year, it kind of became my Kyoto theme. ^^ Whenever I hear it, I remember a lot of fun times.

The first episode was pretty good. I like that they had a little humor in it and not just depressing through out. It's very touching. Looking forward for upcoming episodes.

just saw the movie.. really good cinematography..landscapes and great story... just as u thought Love story was sad enough... strangely the scenes remind me of ZONE's Boku no Tegami PV
P.S. DVDs available in Singapore now

ZONE is only good at one thing... that is, making music

Sekachuu!! Yup, I've seen both the drama and the movie, but I didn't like the movie as much as I did the drama.
I'm currently watching the drama again, cuz it's airing right now where I live.

SEKACHUU! I loved this drama It was very touching, and made me cry. I also want to see the movie although I have heard that it's doinky when compared to the drama...but I must see/read everything SekaChuu related However, avoid the manga adaptation, which is closer to the original novel than the J-drama was. It was really, really bad. I hope the novel's not this bad...
H!P fan since 2001!
