Oda: This is show is me sharing my obsession!

Oda: So this, this is about my love of fried chicken, which I have loved for a long, long time, and I'm sure even Homura has noticed it, too.

Oda: The plan is to talk about my love of fried chicken and make Homare listen to me, and then we'll eat some.

Oda: It really is awesome, so that's what we'll be doing today. I've been going to KFC for about as long as I can remember, and it is such a treat, on the few occasions I can eat it these days. The reason I love KFC, specifically, like the thing that made me love KFC from such a young age, is the Red Hot Chicken they only sell in summer. Have you had it? Oh, you don't like spicy foods, right?
Okamura: I normally don't, yeah, but that chicken is something I see you get every single year when it goes on sale so that made me curious. I did finally try it, and it is spicy, but, like, it's not just spicy.
Oda: Right?!
Okamura: It awakened something within me.
Oda: You get it! That makes me happy. So happy.
Okamura: So I'm definitely going to get it again when it comes back on the menu.
Oda: The texture is also amazing, for a limited time thing.
Okamura: Right, it's so crispy. It's so good.
Oda: It is, it's so crunchy. For a few years they also sold it in winter, too.
Okamura: Really?
Oda: Yeah, for summer, it's like, "Let's work up a good sweat," and then in winter, it's "Let's warm things up."
Okamura: Oh wow, that's brilliant.
Oda: Yeah, so sometimes I can eat it multiple times in a year. I am a KFC fan, but I'm definitely more of a limited-time menu fan, in particular.

Oda: I always go whenever they have a limited-time menu.

Okamura: Every time I see you and I see this KFC box, I know they have a special menu going.
Oda: One thing I had from them recently that was really good, it was like a store-specific menu. Like, they try selling things at a few stores, and if it goes well, they'll sell it all the stores. Like a trial run.
Okamura: Oh, that's smart. They've got good sense.
Oda: So out of that menu, I think my favorite was the nori salt chicken.
Okamura: That sounds so good...
Oda: The breading wasn't like the original recipe, it was the extra crispy like they have on the Red Hot, but not spicy. And then they had nori and salt sprinkled onto it and ugh, it was so good.
Okamura: That sounds amazing.
Oda: Then, they sent out a survey to a few hundred people to review the chicken, and since I liked it, I went to go fill out the survey, but it had already closed. So I hope somebody--
Okamura: You hope somebody else told them how good it was?
Oda: Right! It was really delicious so I hope they sell it everywhere.
Okamura: I want to try it.
Oda: There is one more thing I really loved from a limited-time menu, too. They had sold it like ten years ago, and then they never brought it back until 3 or 4 years ago, before you joined Morning Musume. But it was gone for so long and then suddenly it was back, it was crazy. It's the Crispy Salt Chicken.
Okamura: ...Crispy.
Oda: It's crispy!
Okamura: That sounds so good...
Oda: It doesn't have that crunch, it has this thin layer of breading, like, oh, it's so good, it's like they spray it when they fry it.
Okamura: Wow.
Oda: So it has this very tight breading when they fry it, which makes it crispy. Then, they put salt and pepper on it, it's very simple seasoning.
Okamura: Very simple.
Oda: But it's so crispy, it's so good. I really hope they sell it again. Won't you?
Okamura: I want to try it.
Oda: We want to eat it. Surely there are some crispy chicken fans out there.
Okamura: There must be.
Oda: Many of them.
Okamura: I think there are lots.

Okamura: I like drumsticks and thighs. Whenever I get one of these packs, like with my family, I always ask for those pieces.
Oda: I get it. So, here's the drumstick.
Okamura: The drumstick. It's a good one.
Oda: And then another of your favorites, the thigh.
Okamura: It's really hard to beat.
Oda: I love the thighs, too.
Okamura: It's the juiciest meat in the world.
Oda: The drum and the thigh, they fit together like this.
Okamura: Oh!
Oda: This is how they fit together on the chicken.
Okamura: I didn't know that.
Oda: But look, haven't you eaten chicken in this shape before?
Okamura: I have! I have!
Oda: Right? Like at Christmas and such, you eat it cut like this, right? When you pull it apart, that's when you get the drum and the thigh. Which is like the leg and the butt, to put it simply. Homare has already taken out this piece, this square-shaped piece. This is the rib cut.
Okamura: It's the rib cut.
Oda: If you look at it like this, you understand why Homare's family has a dog named Rib.
Okamura: We do.
Oda: And this... I think it's this orientation, the lungs are back here. So these are the ribs around that. Rib meat isn't just really juicy, the flavor itself is really nice. Speaking of this piece, Ishida Ayumi is a fan of the ribs.
Okamura: This is the part she recommends.
Oda: It is. Then this, this is the part that is connected to the ribs, the wing. This is like the wings, the tebasaki that Nagoya is known for, this part right here.
Okamura: Yeah, if you break it apart, I guess it's the same. Cool.
Oda: This one is the keel.
Okamura: Keel.
Oda: Keel is breast meat. Like, if you get chicken on your salad, it's usually from this cut.
Okamura: Oh, okay. The very clean-tasting meat.
Oda: The lean meat. That means that these are all the cuts from KFC. The keel is the only piece where there's only one of them. It's the center of the breast. All the others have one on each side of the chicken, which means that if you get a 9-piece meal, you'll have one of every part of the chicken.
Okamura: I see.
Oda: Talking about this, I realize there might be some people who can only imagine a live chicken when they hear about this and have to think about it dying, but that's what it means to eat another animal.
Okamura: That is true.
Oda: I am grateful for the hen that gave its life so that I could eat something delicious and I eat it with that in mind.

Oda: This piece is a little tricky to eat if you don't know that trick, but this is the easiest way.
Okamura: It was a little hard to eat, that's great.

Oda: Of all the cuts at KFC, the thigh is the one with the highest fat content, so next we'll go for the opposite, the piece with the least amount of fat, the one most popular among women. Pick up your rib--oh not rib, the keel.

Oda: I also want to introduce my favorite side items at KFC. They would be the Colonel Crispy tenders and the lemonade soda. I always order this one. Do you want to try it?

Oda: It is so good. It's perfect. It's lemonade, but it's not too sweet--
Okamura: So good.
Oda: --and it's not too sour. It's the best thing when you feel so full and maybe ate a little too much and you want a bit of a palate cleanser. It's like your whole mouth feels refreshed after you drink this.
Okamura: It does!
Oda: Next is the Colonel Crispy tender. It looks like this. If you turn it like this, you can see all the extra breading.
Okamura: It's the best.
Oda: And it's just like the name says. It's got a great crunch and it's delicious. Oh, we should hurry up and eat it, huh?
Okamura: I love these.
Oda: I love them!
Okamura: I always order one.
Oda: I get it.
Okamura: It smells good.
Oda: Let's go ahead and eat.
Okamura: I'm going for it. Woah! What a nice sound.

Okamura: The great thing about these is that the meat isn't dry at all. This part of the chicken is easy to dry out, but this is so moist
Oda: That's true.
Okamura: So it's really juicy and so delicious.
Oda: This is also--ugh, that's such a good sound. Videos of people eating these for the sound are popular, but the nice thing is that you can order these any time. They're not on a limited menu.
Okamura: Right.
Oda: You can enjoy them any time of year. Makino Maria also really loves these. If I say I'm going to KFC, Maria will sometimes come up and say, "Can I ask you to get me a Colonel Crispy?" So I'll bring these back for her, as well.
Okamura: It's so good.
Oda: It is good. There are a lot leftover so I think I'll bring them to Maria.

Oda: In a little bit, we actually have a dance lesson, so this will give us some good energy in preparation for that. How did you feel about it, Homaretan?
Okamura: I have publicly declared what a fan of meat I am, but I've only had one meat-related job so far, but doing this with you was so much. Thank you.
Oda: It was fun. I guess it's because I'm always talking about how much I like KFC, but there are so many photos and videos of me with it, but usually after I've already eaten it, so I'm glad to have this video of me eating it in realtime. Going back to something I spoke about in the beginning, though, I mentioned the Red Hot Chicken, which they came out with again this past summer. When it was announced, I wrote something in my blog like, "I'll give you all a count of how many pieces I eat this year!" I never actually published the count, though, so, this year, the KFC Red Hot Chicken was available for two, maybe three months, and in that time, I ate 52 pieces.
Okamura: ...what? No lie, I am shocked by that. That many?
Oda: 52.
Okamura: It was. But that was over the course of two months, you said?
Oda: Right.
Okamura: It was. So you could have just had, like, one piece almost every day.
Oda: In one sitting I usually eat 4 pieces, so if you think of it like that...
Okamura: Wow.
Oda: It was somewhere in the tens of times I ate it. I also have to mention, KFC has an app, right?
Okamura: Right.
Oda: They have a tracker in the app, where you earn so many points for each piece of chicken you eat. There, there's a platinum tier, once you hit around 7,000 points, and you get coupons where, like, you can get biscuits for 100 yen and such.
Okamura: Amazing!
Oda: It's a great program. So, bearing in mind you need 7,000 points to hit platinum, I have earned over 20,000 points.
Okamura: Incredible.
Oda: It's wonderful. It's the real deal.
Okamura: That's incredible.
Oda: I wonder why I didn't say that at the start, to establish how great my love of KFC is.
Okamura: You ate so much chicken.
Oda: Yes, well, the truth is, I could still do more. In the app, you see, it lists how much chicken you've eaten each week, and then you can see a ranking of how you compare to other people. I've never ranked in based on what I eat, because there are people who earn the same amount of points that I did in two years, in one week. #1 for this week earned 40,000 points.
Okamura: That... how can you even eat that much?
Oda: I wonder. I think you really have to devote your life to it.
Okamura: That's deep.
Oda: Yeah. I think it's good, though. I think it's something to celebrate, achieving your goal of being #1.
Okamura: It's a personal accomplishment.
Oda: Right, I think it's wonderful. I still have a long ways to go to match that, but I hope I expressed how much I love KFC today. We talked about how to eat the chicken, what's on the menu, and I'd be really happy if everyone out there took that knowledge to have their own fun with KFC. Well then, that's all from us. Oda: You can just get lemonade instead.
